1. The Last Gunfighters of Texas - 180 (9)
2. Doinitin Djibouti - 158
3. Sierra Leone Stallions - 132
4. Lake Opeta Legionnaires - 110
5. Angola Dream - 98
6. Botswana Bugeaters - 82
7. Cape Verde Kings - 74
8. Dar es Salaam Warrior Kings - 64
9. Seychelles Island Sea Wolves - 42
10. Windhoek White Rhinos - 22
Teams also receiving votes: Tuscaloosa Bulls - 16, UN Peacekeepers - 8, Angola Spider Monkeez - 4
New teams in the Top 10: Seychelles Island Sea Wolves
Teams dropping from Top 10: Angola Spider Monkeez
Nine teams voted once again this week with TLGoT getting all of the first place votes. For the first time this season Elephant has taken over the top 4 spots on the poll, with the remaining 6 positions all held by Lion.
I'm going to try a new setup this week, more structured and less free flowing, we'll see if you like it better.
Game of the Week Elephant: We have a huge battle today in Elephant between #1 TLGoT and the #3 Stallions for the top spot in the league!
Game of the Week Lion: #6 Bugeaters meet #8 Dar es Salaam in a great matchup for 2nd place in Lion.
TLGoT 5-0: These guys are leaving more road kill in their wake than a fleet of tractor trailers, but they have a roadblock facing them today in Sierra Leone. If they blast through the Stallions like they have everyone else in the league so far, I really don't see how this squad will be stopped. Are they facing a team today that will finally prove the Gunfighters are mortal? We'll find out in a few hours.
DD 5-0: Another powerhouse that is on a roll, they knocked off the Legos in week 2 and never slowed and never looked back. They will certainly be watching the game of the week today with great interest though. I'll go out on a limb and say everyone in Djibouti are Stallions fans today, since they face them next week. A Sierra Leone win today and a DD win next week would give Djibouti sole possession of 1st place in Elephant, and in the league.
SLS 5-0: The third juggernaut in a loaded Elephant Conference. They have had a great offseason and an impressive run so far this year, but the time has come to show that they are for real. They now face the top 2 teams in the league back to back, an almost impossible task to ask of any squad. If they win one of these games, they will prove that they deserve to be ranked in the top 5. If they win both....they are the hands down favorite to win it all.
LOL 4-1: This team is in a position that they aren't used to, sitting out of the spotlight watching other squads fight it out for 1st. Every year before this one LOL has been the team to beat from week 1 onward. They were always the team that everyone else measured themselves up against. Winning the first 3 championships will do that for you. This year they are playing the role of the forgotten man, but that may not be a bad thing. They can continue to win quietly week after week and then be in position to pounce and reclaim their title at the end of the season.
Dream 5-0: The only undefeated team left in Lion, the Dream are used to being at the top. They have been impressive once again this year but they can't rest on their laurels. They ran off 8 straight wins last year before stumbling in the middle of the season, losing 3 of 4. They admitted that they were on cruise control last season and in the end they paid the price for it. They face RRK today, and even though the Royal Knights only have 1 win they are not a team to be taken lightly.
BB 4-1: The defending Lion champs are in for some sleepless nights ahead. Just like last year the schedule maker has done this elite squad no favors. She is still angry at Majech for sleeping with her sister and has rewarded his team with an absolutely brutal stretch of games. It actually begun 3 weeks ago with back to back games against the Monkeez and Sea Wolves. The Bugeaters came out of that 1-1 and rebounded nicely last week. But now they face...Dar es Salaam, Cape Verde, The Rhinos, The Bulls, and The Dream all in a row...yikes. This is their season right here in these next 5 games. I wish you luck my friends.
CVK 4-1: The Kings seemed to have recovered from their week 1 asswhooping by TLGoT and have run off 4 straight wins. But like the Bugeaters, the Kings also face a very difficult stretch of games starting today against The Monkeez. In fact this stretch of games may even be tougher than BB's because it's 8 weeks long. I think the schedule maker found out that Dlee was the one who got her sister drunk the night Majech slept with her. God help us.
DeS 4-1: The Warrior Kings' season looks eerily similar to Cape Verde's so far this year. They lost their cross conference opener to LOL, although unlike CVK they lost in OT in a very tight game, and then ran off 4 nice wins in a row. They have already begun their hard stretch of the schedule with a very nice win over the Monkeez last week, and now face top 10 teams in 5 of their next 7 games. What the hell, were all of you Lion owners out together that infamous night or what? I hope you all have your insurance paid up, because us players are going to be the ones who pay the price on the field. If any of us come out of this without broken bones in 7 weeks it will be a miracle.
Sea Wolves 4-1: Well at least I know JDawg is innocent, he wasn't here last season hahaha, and the Sea Wolves have a nice balanced schedule to prove it. They have rebounded nicely from their week 2 loss to the Monkeez and have their first big win in APL under their belts against the Bugeaters. They are no longer the 'new guys', but instead a very solid team who plan to be in position to strike after all of the other top Lion teams are done beating the hell out of each other.
White Rhinos 4-1: Rounding out the top 10 is a team who prefers to be out of the spotlight. The Rhinos thrive at playing the role of legend beaters, they are the only squad who beat both The Dream and The Kings last season...when both teams were undefeated. They can't get too comfortable playing the role of spoiler though, they need to win the games they should win to be in position to take advantage when they beat the top teams. They lost to RRK already this year, a game they probably should have won, and face a very dangerous Warthog team today. The Warthogs gave Dar es and Cape Verde all they could handle the last two weeks, and The Rhinos will have to be on their game today if they don't want to be Rhinoed themselves
Ok guys that's it. A little longer than I had planned in my head but I think I like the way it turned out. Any feedback good or bad will be appreciated, this poll is worthless if no one wants to read it.
Good Luck today!!
