Lotta fireworks at the top of the charts this week, as the Olympians put an impressive beatdown on the Sabotage, yet mysteriously dropped five spots due to a fat bribe offered by the Vipers and taken by my spreadsheet program (goddamned OpenOffice) to suppress their ranking.

All kidding aside, it's true, Athens has claimed the top spot on the strength of that triple-digit win. Resting on their laurels (pun intended) is not an option, as the Vipers are hot on their heels after a strong win vs the Storm.

Meanwhile, Phantomlord2k pulled a Dennis Green in the postgame of the Secret's win over the Calvary and screamed "They ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!" - of course, the whole "let 'em off the hook" part wasn't necessary, as no comeback was in the cards for Krakow, and they took their first defeat of the season. Unfortunately for the Secret, they probably needed at least one more FG to get past the Calvary in the rankings, and it didn't happen.

In other news, congratulations are in order for both the Zabijaks and the Soldiers, who each picked up their first win of the season. Too bad Bratislava's came against the free-falling Wildcats, else they might have found their way back into this week's rankings...

In free fall: Speaking of "who we thought they were", the Sabotage are our big losers this week, losing 7 spots after the thumping they took at the hands of the Olympians. You know how it goes, someone moves up the ladder, someone else gets their hands stepped on and falls off!

Speaking of rankings....

1) Olympians (213.06) +2
2) Vipers (200.5) -1
3) Army (187.58) -1
4) Stalkers (177.67) --
5) Rampage ZETA (151.21) +2
6) Flames (148.13) -1
7) Stars (147.8) -1
8) Iron Fists (137.78) --
9) Calvary (104.47) --
10) Secret (103.39) +2
11) Rampage ALPHA (95.07) +4
12) Hammers (91.06) +2
13) Aftermath (87.23) +4
14) Teutonic (83.9) +1
15) Raptors (81.7) +1
16) Storm (78.2) -5
17) Sabotage (68.84) -7
18) Minotaurs (46.48) --
19) Scoregasm (37.89) +2
20) Bandits (33.88) -1
21) Kaufbeuren (27.84) -1
22) Soldiers (25.28) +1
23) Sentinals (1.07) -1

Race to Relegation:

I thought this feature was going to be competitive, but Everett has seen fit to seal the deal here, opening up a 150 point lead over 2nd place Grodno after yet another triple digit loss, this time against the formerly winless Zabijaks. I'll keep you posted if anything changes....

Come on, man, you gotta give me something for the "rest on your laurels" joke.
