As I promised, here's my first stab at the Alpha team predictions! Last week my predictions went 8-1, and I'm now 19-6 on the season. (76%)
Best Selection of last week
Komodo Dragons vs. Alaska Wild: (Prediction: 38-14; Actual: 31-16)
Memphis Kings vs. Pittsburgh Steelerz: Pittsburgh looks to be the strongest team in Alpha, and as of right now, my pick to win the alpha conference. Memphis has two losses already this season, even though they do look a bit stronger than last year.
Pittsburgh, 54-14
Phoenix Eagles vs. South Sydney Rabid Rabbitohs: Phoenix is like the Fiji Rage of the Alpha conference. No one is really talking about them, but they KNOW they can beat some people. South Sydney on the other hand is like Suva...the only difference is that they'll win one game this season, and they already did!
Phoenix, 80-3
Melbourne Marvels vs. Cardiac Kids MD: Melbourne is rated the best offense in the entire league by my stat tracking thing, and they got past a very tough Christmas team. Cardiac has some very strong leveled players, but also have a few holes.
****UPSET ALERT****
Cardiac, 27-24
Soloman Islands Pack vs. Tonga Little Engine That Could: Tonga definitely has some consistent depth on this team, and if anything causes a problems it's that. Soloman Island is a strong team, and always seems to game plan very well.
Soloman Island, 52-10
Redcliff Razamanaz vs. Topeka Twisters: Redcliff has a big win over Devonport by two, and just beat a decent KC Chiefs team. Topeka's team level bars may not show much, but this is definitely a team with some skill. Redcliff may just be too strong, though.
Redcliff, 41-21
Alderaan Explosion vs. Mighty KC Chiefs: Alderaan has the highest ranked defense in the league. You say it won't last, but they've played Wellington and Dayton, two very strong offenses. The Chiefs are a solid team, but they've been matched up with two tough teams thus far. Can the Chiefs finally hit their stride against a team pretty closely matched to them?
Alderaan, 31-17
Wellington Wizards vs. Kaka'ako Ku: Wellington is a top three team in the Alpha conference, and Kaka'ako is no walk over team. Wellington has been running the ball very well so far this season, and Kaka'ako's defense has been less than stout. I just can't see such an unbalanced offense like Kaka'ako's winning this game. Sorry guys!
Wellington, 48-7
Wellington Colonials vs. Rekohu Raptors: Rekohu in the past was a very strong team, but have really fallen off the map in season 8. Wellington has never been to competitive in Oceania AA4, but this may be a game they can win. I just can't see it happening!
Rekohu, 31-13
Piercing the Heart of Zeta (A clever way of saying a stab into Zeta)
Dunedin Drones vs. Dayton Gunslingers: This is the game of the week because of how big the rivalry is. I remember looking back at the Oceania A8 boards occasionally and there would be fierce trash talk going on between both teams. Dunedin has two upsets (in my book) already, while Dayton has started off 0-2. Dunedin is tied for 1st in offense and 2nd in defense. Who will prevail?
Dunedin, 30-17
Team Shout-Out!
This goes to the Dunedin Drones. They're the only team for me to have predicted wrong TWICE already this season! They got a big win from Rochester, and are now boasting a 2 game winning streak in a very tough Oceania AA4 league.
Poll of the Week!
Could Dunedin have been competitive in Oceania AA4 Zeta last season?
