It was a bad week for most of Zeta, as we were most thoroughly trounced by Alpha but live and let live. Although I think we learned some things about how the season will end up. So without wasting much more time typing lets get into the rankings.
1) Hawaii Phoenixes – One of the winning teams this week, not that they really had any “stiff” competition. I thought Telstar would keep it within 20 so of course either Telstar is much worse than we thought, or Hawaii is even more of a beast that expected, I certainly hope for Zeta’s sake it was Telstar that was found lacking. Wins easy this week.
2) Texas Drillers – Everyone’s favorite CAPS LOCK team comes up with a win this week. Texas looks good moving forward with a very solid win over a capable team.
3) Orlando Lightning Bolts – Wow. I think I may owe Orlando (who must have some long ass flights to play games this season being from Florida and all) an apology. They played what appears to be an extremely solid Codben team down to the wire. A loss can in fact move teams up the rankings, such as this one. Perfect time for some real head to head Zeta action with the Drillers this week, I’m sure Zeta will have their collective eyes on this match up.
4) Auckland Titans – Not the type of game I was expecting, I knew Norfolk was a good team, and I was leaning either way on this game. Both defenses were smothering. A few key plays helped push Norfolk over and Auckland just couldn’t get a thing going against Norfolk. Will win over Guam, setting up a battle with the Drillers the following week.
5) Sack Sabbath- Sack wins against another Guam team although it was MUCH closer than I would expect it to be. I don’t think its reason for panic, Sack looks tough this season. Wins easy this week.
6) Geelong – A loss to Puerto Rico hurts, especially when it was that close. I’m tempted to tank Geelong, but that would be mainly because he picked against Auckland! Melbourne this week will be a good test to see how they will perform in AA1 this season.
7) Hamilton Hellcats – Lost a close one to the shrooms. I actually thought Hamiliton would have this game well under their control They made some upgrades to the team this season but maybe they just need that tweek to put them over the top. Playing Gold Coast will be a good game.
8) Gold Coast Vipers – GOLD COAST! When I moved into the league I looked over their roster and said, “Damn these guys are going to be brutal” then I watched them lose to some easy ass teams all season and was wondering WTF they were doing. This could be their season to get on track, but lets not get crazy it was against one the worst teams in Alpha.
9) Death Riders – Lost to the Tigers over in Alpha. Im not sure what jumps off the page here with the Death Riders, but I will keep them on the radar. Next week they have a CPU team, then the following 2 weeks easy wins. So regardless we wont know the true metal of the Riders till they play Texas after starting 3-1.
10) Melbourne Pred’s – Close loss to the McNuggets who seemed out leveled last season and may be able to put things together. Playing Geelong will be a good test in the Zeta rankings.
11) Guam Circus – Yuck, that was just fugly.
12) Sydney Sharks – Playing the Danish your first game is bad news for Sydney, but someone had to do it. Although I suspect and improved team, I just don’t see them sliding into the playoffs this season
