Week One: 2-0
The Last Gunfighters of Texas - Cape Verde Kings:
By far the game of the week featuring two of the best APL has to offer. In the end I will take the Gunfighters as their defense is just too damn fast and will be all over the Verde offense like Freddie Mitchells girlfriend in a buffet line....

Windhoek White Rhinos - Ghana Buffalos:
Two solid teams who will both make some noise in the APL by seasons end. I will pick the Rhino's in a close one as they pull out a 4th quarter win.

Week Two: 1-1

Game One is a great battle between LOL and DD with the winner taking the early lead in the race for 2nd place as the Gunfighters just looked that much better than anyone else last week. As much as I like DD, I am going with LOL in this one as they are not ready to pass the regular season torch just yet. A big 4th quarter puts them over the top.

Game Two is between Cairo and Ghana where the loser really puts themselves in a hole early on in the season. Neither team can afford to lose this one, but I'm going to take Ghana in this one as they bounce back from a tough season one defeat.

Week 3: 2-0
Somalia Pirates over UN Peacekeepers
Which Pirates come out to play today is the question, while the question for UN is are they for real and ready to stake their claim in the Top 10. I have a feeling the Pirates come up with a big effort today for the win.

Bugeaters over Spider Monkeez
Bugeaters look to take control of the Top Lion spot this week with a win over the Monkeez. Both teams come in at 2-0 with the Bugeaters not having been tested while the Monkeez are coming off a big win, can they carry the momentum over, I'll say no.....

Week 4: 3-1

I'll go with 5 picks this week starting with the Bugeaters vs SeaWolves. The Wolves look to make a statement but in the end Bugeaters take it to the Wolves in a close one.

In the game that could see She Vegas completely lose it, as if his try at poetry hasn't already confirmed it, BBE and the man they call Brit score the victory.

Somalia has awakened just in time to continue the miserable start for the Mummy Warriors who could see their season go down in flames tomorrow. Don't sleep on the Pirates.....

Just because I like Zambia, I am going to throw them a bone for this one as they get back to 2-2 with a victory over Nigeria

In the game I won't pick until after the outcome has been decided, Ghana and Congo will go head to head in what will be a real good game! Best of luck everyone....

Week 5: 2-1
Big game again this week for the BBE who go against the 4-0 Stallions. A BBE win can shake up the top 4 while a Stallions win is really needed as they play the Gunfighters and DD next, and their 4-0 record can quickly become 4-3! My pick, Stallions prove they belong in the Top 4.

Ghana vs Pirates should be a good one but I have to route for the Pirates in this one - Note to Pirates, Ghana plays special teams with 15 players, hold on to the damn ball!

On the other side of the fence, the hey, hey we're the Monkeez take on the Lion Kings in a game where people might forget that the Kings gave the LOL all they could handle in their only loss. This one comes down to a FG with the Monkeez pulling it out....

Week 6: 2-1

My feature game of the week goes with the battle of the unbeatens, Stallions vs Gunfighters. This is the first Elephant test for the Gunfighters who will show if they are bored with the regular season or are serious about running the table this season. Stallions get a chance to prove they are ready to challenge for the league title or are still just a playoff team with little hope for a title. In the end, Gunfighters are just too fast and win this one going away...People are asking if Mack Ironfist and his 20 sacks is the new sheriff in Texas! Last season at this point, Bukka had 20 sacks in a game!

In a game that puts two rivals together for the first time since BBE choked in the playoffs causing Brit to wet his diaper in his attempt to come up with the big boys in the Pro League, Brit gets a chance to get some payback vs the UN. As this is a regular season tilt with not much pressure, I am going with BBE.

Over to the side where I never pick right, Cape Verde is quietly shaking off the first game beating handed to them by the Gunfighters. Flying a little under the radar, even though everyone knows about them, Verde continues its resurrection to the Top of Lion with a sound victory over the Monkeez today.

Week 7: 1-2

Some heavyweight battles today with the best of APL facing off against each other, while some middle of pack games will shape the direction of the playoff hopefuls and hopeless. I'm sticking with the heavyweights today:

Somalia Pirates vs LOL - This is one where the Pirates can beat anyone in APL, but can also have some head scratching losses. Pirates will be up for this one, but in the end LOL has the final say in one that is somewhat closer than people may think.

Cape Verde vs Bugeaters - Bugeaters know each time I pick them it is a loss, so with all the trash talking going back and forth between these two, I am going to pick the hard charging Cape Verde team to knock off the Bugeaters. You happy, I didnt pick you, but you better cover the spread!

Stallions vs DD - This one is straight out of the movie The Warriors, players will be carrying sticks, chains, brass knuckles and whatever else they can get their hands on to this street fight. With the Stallions, you are more likely to see their roster on the back of a milk carton because when it comes to forums and talking they are the anti Christ to the fast talking boys of DD. Parab00n and the boys can gameplan with the best of them, and I think the Stallions are still hungover from their win over the Gunfighters. DD wins this one on a FG....

Week 8

It is the halfway point and I am going with two games today, both Elephant contests. In the first one, BBE faces off against Ghana in a game that has some serious playoff implications. BBE could really use this one because they have a killer stretch as they have yet to face the iron of the league. 6-2 at the halway point will guarantee them at least a 10-6 season and a playoff spot. Ghana itself gets to face BBE, the Gunfighters and DD so a win will go far for them as well as their second half schedule is much easier than the first half.

Cairo vs Cripplers is already a must win game for both teams. Cripplers are having one of those seasons where whatever can go wrong pretty much has while Cairo always seems to play everybody tough. At 3-4, Cairo looks to get back to .500 while the Cripplers need this win or they can kiss season 8 goodbye! I'm staying faithful to the Cripplers as they rally to climb out of the gigantic hole they have dug for themselves!

Good luck everyone and please be sure to mtake use of those awful team colors Bort has provided for us. Does the man even know what a box of crayons looks like! 5 Million color combinations and we have those to chose from!

GG Buffalos!

A missed XP is definitely unfortunate...

But britdevine316, their last two possessions in the 4th quarter ended in a fumble and an INT....

Off of that final INT, we were in position to kick a field goal and win either way...
Victory formation... http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=394359&pbp_id=2423878

Would have been a great game in real life!

Yeah, our kicker also missed a 52 yard field goal attempt with 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter. I'm going to give his agent a good talking to. (note: the kicker is my player )

Good call on this one, although Cairo totally out played us. A few big plays, starting with the fumble return for a touchdown on the opening kick off are what made the difference. The final score of 33-16 isn't really any indication of how close the game was since Ghana had 21 points alone on turnovers.
