Now that we have at least had some games this can be a little better:
1. Taylor Bulldogs- They appear to be back to the Taylor teams of old. My only concern would be that they apparantly have done a lot of their boosting already and games against top teams who have not boosted yet, but, boost prior to playoffs may not give us a true determination of how they compare with the top 4 or 5 teams. But, I have a feeling they are going to do just fine. Easier early season schedule with no real test until Trilla.
2. Danish Contract Killers- Team is also loaded and made easy work of Sydney. Huge game next week against Trilla. Already with a solid test early in the season.
3. Gold Coast Michelin Men-Made easy work of Sidney and appears to be poised to make some noise in AA. Easier early season schedule and time to get used to AA. Better win games they should now as Taylor lurks week 7 and then a 5 game stretch of Trilla, Mushroom, Bendigo, Port Moresby, & Danish will make or break this team.
4. Siracusa- Greta start for a solid team who improved during the offseason and has always gameplanned well. Upcoming 3 game stretch of Bendigo, Port Moresby, & Danish early in the season did them no favors. Survive that and the season will look good.
5. Port Moresby- Hard to comment on my own team. Stability has always been there. Gameplanning is back to what it was in season 6 when we won A. Better win early because the last 5 games of the season could be a disaster if the playoffs are on the line.
6. Puerto Rico- Team made some good moves in offseason and has come back solid. Showed up well in the big win and I came away impressed. Will not be a pushover, but has a 7 game stretch in the dead middle of the season which will determine their fate.
7. Trilla Titans- Moved up and playing well. These guys have always been great gameplanners and will need to keep that up as they will be tested immediately in game 2 against perennial league title contender, Danish. We now find out what you guys are made of.
8. Bendigo Sawfish- OK guys, I could not put you higher because you played the only CPU team. You covered the spread, but, still. They are a CPU team. Immediate game against Siracusa will tell us where you are and like some other teams, better win early because the late season schedule is a bitch.
9. Kalundborg Mushroom Brigade- Solid team here. Dont know much about them, but, of the middle pack group, they are definately one I will keep my eye on. And speaking of schedules that are a bitch, they have a 7 game stretch late in the season against teams all in the current top 8 and including all of the top 5. Ouch.
10A & 10B- Cobden Coyotes & Flaming McNuggets- After close games in non conference play, but games they won, these two can go either way. They can win some games they shouldnt or lose some they should. They are equally levelled so Ill batch them together. Cobden has Taylor in week 3 and the Flaming McNuggets start a 5 week run this week with 4 of the top 5 teams. Make it or break it time.
Norfolk- I left these guys out, but, not on purpose. They beat a solid Zeta team but will have to prove it this week against the Coquis.
Bottom 4- The 4 who lost to Zeta. Now, in Telstars defense, they lost to the best team in Zeta but did not look good doing it. Guam played ok against a good Sack Sabbath team and have a 5 game run coming up that will make or break their season. Australian got Drilled...Pun intended. Gonna be a tough season for this team in AA. Suva got pounded by the Vipers and their first in conference game wont be any easier.
I think there is amazing balance among the top 8 teams and 4 teams with a chance to either squeeze their way in or fall apart under the pressure of long stretches of games against top teams. The bottom 4 will find this league very difficult.
