It's partially luck, partially stat based. The higher up you are on the stats list, the more "votes" you get for an endorsement. It's like a raffle. The guy that spend $100 is more likely to win than the guy who spends a single. But that single still has a slight chance.

I ended up with three, but not at all where I expected I might have a chance at one.

The endorsements are a joke right now. I literally think they just threw names in a hat and passed them out. There are teams with players who either didnt play a snap or were slow building players that got endorsements.
Hopefully they get them fixed or just removed until they get it straightened out because right now they are laughable.

It should be the top 2-3 players at each position. Max of 3-4 per team. That would mimic the NFL a little better!

Nah, it has to do with how photogenic they are 
You can be the best player in the world, but if you can't string two words together and look like you slept under a garbage truck after it hit you, you won't get any endorsements.
