With an hour till the first game I thought Id post some of my thoughts.
I have a feeling this may be a season of two halfs - before and after the inevitable strength nerf. Those team who have strong DLines are going to have a huge advantage in the first half of the season as theyll not suffer from being pancaked as much as the SP/AG DLines. Padang should be the main benefactors of this early on and could have a shot at winning the division just from this early advantage. After the nerf things will even out a little but it may be too late for some teams by then.
The big topic is whether or not Karawang will dominate the league like Jakarta did last season. They dont have the depth Jakarta did but their starting line-up is fairly awesome. As we know however the league will be won or lost on a tonne of scouting and this may be a bigger hinderance than their backups as it is apparent from their owners comments that they dont have the time for as much scouting as theyd like.
Other teams that I think deserve mentioning are Bangkok and Hong Kong. Both have strengthened their team from last season and an extra year in AA might give them the best chance of the remaining teams to flesh out the home playoff spots. To be honest though the last two positions will be tight with about 6 teams competing for them and about 13 teams with a legitimate playoff shot.
So what of the Bucks. Well were still rebuilding slowly but surely. Our core of players from season 3 is still here and were adding stonger backups and plugging retirement holes when they arise. We finally have a solid DLine and probably have the divisions best run defense. Our big challenge this season is to get back to the playoffs especially with our rebuilt run based offense as opposed to our 5WR spread approach of the past. Im not expecting much of us this season to be honest but a playoff game would help a lot for next season when well have a 100% complete stadium and our long term team build will be approaching its peak. Next season well be awesome.
