Since The USA A#5 seems to be lacking a weekly power ranking list, I went ahead and threw the results to date in my trusty spreadsheet to spit us out an overall ranking. The ups and downs are based on what the list would have been if published previously.

Well, looking at the two rankings(Western and this one), they are about the same. I think the only difference is the top two teams. I had them switched. But overall, I feel better about my rankings because atleast I know I am on to something.

Now to this week, I hope Kentucky can pull a huge one out of their ass and upset Vancouver. I doubt it, but there is always hope.

These rankings are all mathmatically based in order to prevent any bias.

The overall record of the teams Waterloo has beat (18-36) is better than the overall record of the teams Vegas has beat (13-41), so SoS is weighted in their favor. That said, digging into it some more, I don't like the way I have the Margin of victory and Margin of defeat weighted, and once I make a tweak there, you guys may get a little love in ranking. Not sure if it will be enough to swap places though. Its hard to factor in a head-to-head on power rankings though since the number of teams having played each other will not reach 50% until season end.

**After rerunning with a correction to the MoV and MoD weight, it closed the gap by more than half, but still did not put Vegas ahead of Waterloo.

We are certainly doing everything in our power to prevent that from happening. You guys are better than your record would indicate.

Virginia is in the Eastern Conference, not Western. I can't dispute the rankings to this point as we haven't proven that our last win wasn't just a fluke. It wasn't though.

Ok i am going to enjoy this #1 Ranking for now, but with Ketchikan and then Nebraska for our next 2 games we will see. As they say it is in our hands to keep the #1 Ranking or lose it.

I will tell you though what the ranking system doesn't show was Nebraska beating the powerhouse Vancouver Terminators. That was huge in my book and we don't deserve to be above Nebraska till we beat them, that is if we get by Ketchikan. Ketchikan will be a tough game.
