Boy, when I look across the board, I see very few easy wins this season. Typically, leagues can be broken into multiple tiers ... and here is my take at the tiers for season 8.
Tier 1 - Top returning teams.
Aggies
Blue Bombers
Grizzlies
Hitmen
Leviathans
I would be surprised if any of these 5 teams missed the playoffs. All teams have excellent GMs and have done nothing but improve in the off-season. The Aggies were the clear #1 out of this group last season ... while the other 4 were almost a dead-heat. I'll still put the Aggies at the top ... but they will be given a good run for their money by the rest of this group.
Tier 2: The New Kids
Montreal Rush
Axel Island
Port Chester
Toronto Thunder
I like 3 of these teams to fill the remaining play-off spots ... and a few of them could actually push for a top-4 finish. I assume they are all chock full of excellent builds and solid GMs. The battle for that last play-off spot should be exciting.
Tier 3: Bubble Teams
Montreal Snow Storm
Halifax Hell Reapers
These 2 have shown the ability to compete with the teams above them ... but haven't shown that they can beat them. Unless they score some major FAs in the next few days, I just don't see them getting over that hump this season ... but it wouldn't shock me to see either team nab that #8 spot.
Tier 4: Treading Water
Warren Brotherhood
West Coast
Mid Pac
Alberta
None of these teams were able to accomplish much in the off-season and appear headed for a rough season. I am proud of them however for continuing to field a full roster and fight through the adversity.
Tier 5: Headed for Extinction?
Bonevanture
Man, not sure what happened here ... but this once solid team appears to have lost several players and haven't replaced any of them. As of today, they can't field a full team on either side of the ball.
Projected Order of Finish (subject to change after boosting):
1. Aggies
2. Blue Bombers
3. Grizzlies
4. Rush
5. Hitmen
6. Leviathans
7. Polar Bears
8. Port Chester
9. Snow Storm
10. Thunder
11. Hell Reapers
12. Brotherhood
13. Mid-Pac
14. Trojans
15. Avalanche
16. Bulls
