One season early, much to our dismay. Thanks Bort!!!
For those that remember our team, hello again. For those that aren't familiar with K&B:
We are an original USA A8 team. We started out as the New Orleans Where Y'ats, but changed our name to K&B Purples sometime in S2, I believe. I'm sure Onepeat can fill in anyone curious about the unusual name. We were a perennial championship contender here in A8 for many seasons, but seemed to fall short every season in the playoffs.
Despite having a deep, talented roster, those playoff frustrations pushed us to dismantle and go slow-build for season 5. Most of our talent was parsed out to other teams in our GLB family. They are happily winning championships on those teams (one of which was just promoted to USA Pro after winning the league trophy in AAA), while our beloved K&B remains without hardware.
We spent two miserable seasons in A8 and BBB15 and suffered the lumps most slow-build teams go through. S7 looked to be our first competitive year, but Bort rolled out VA's, which destroyed the ability of slow build teams to compete with teams 10+ levels higher than them, even though they had better builds. We finished S7 14-2, but we were blown out by the only quality teams in our conference.
S8 was supposed to be our year in BBB15, but Bort has seen fit to promote us due to what I can only assume is scouting bar strength. With VA's, though, those scouting bars are more misleading than ever. Hopefully as the season ages, and we begin to close the level gap, and the VA gap becomes less significant, we will be able to compete with some of the elite teams in this league. We will make the playoffs this season. Our builds are as good as they get, and they are enough to overcome a level disadvantage, but not a level + VA disadvantage. Hopefully, that won't always be the case.
We will make the playoffs, but more importantly, make good on our promise to come back to this league and stomp the Destin Pigskin Pimps, who are still here and still failing, just as I predicted in S4. For those that were here back then, you may remember this team coming out and ridiculing us after we announced our slow-build plans in S4. Two games later, we played these fools:

Then we promised to come back and kick their asses again, with players 10+ levels lower. However, it looks like their roster is full of level 1's. I certainly hope they're not 'taking the easy way out', as they put it way back when.
We look forward to an exciting season here in A8. We may be outgunned, but we will be competitive, and we will make the playoffs. We will also wipe the floor with Destin, which they are well accustomed to.
