I’ll get around to the East later, but here’s a general read in no particular order for the Western Conference next season.
Moving’ On Up- Teams on the rise
Tallahassee Thunder- 4th seed last year in A7, left behind with the promotions. The Thunder should be a solid contender for the title. Stacked roster and chemistry still rebounding from merger.
Fresno- BBB13 champions should be a solid A7 side. Flyinillini98 is a good guy, has been in BBB FOREVER. Glad you guys could finally join us up here. Actually have a pretty good rivalry with the Thunder. Season 5: Thunder 13- Jags 10, Season 4 Thunder 24- Jags 21, Season 3 Jags 32- Thunder 10. Look forward to that continuation.
Philadelphia Demonik- Philly was a 7th seed last year, played a lot of teams close. They have a pretty good shot at a home playoff game. Sammie Mornoey is a STUD back, probably the best returning back in A7.
San Diego Blaze- Solid team that JUST missed a playoff spot last year shouldn’t have to worry about that this year. Solid top to bottom, could use some help on the OL though.
Carolina Bar Stars- Missed the playoffs last year, but they should make them this year. Some good talent, they are missing the depth to play four quarters at the same level.
Atlantis Whitecaps- Atlantis looks a lot better this year, made some good offseason moves. Should be this seasons big mover, from 7-9 to something like 11-5, 12-4.
Houston Space Cowboys- Should move from 14th, but not quite into a playoff team. I have a feeling these guys might go CPU though. Ugh.
Project Mayhem- These guys have a solid team and should be able to compete for a home field playoff game this season.
Compton Colt .45s- Looks like a good run at the end of the season will be or naught. Missing a lot of pieces from their offense, could still be a playoff team with a couple additions. (updated) Looks like Compton signed their players. Should be a contender for one of the top 4 slots.
On the fall-
Grand Haven Mist- Looks like they took a big hit this season. These guys were a solid squad, too bad.
Kalamazoo Wolverines- 1st place BBB seed should fall back a little, they are simply out leveled pretty bad.
San Francisco Wildcats- 2nd seed from BBB, they’ve got some pretty solid talent, but didn’t really play many solid teams last year. I count at least 8 wins by 100+ points. Not good to test tactics on.
Atlanta Mutts- Being from Atlanta myself, I appreciate the team name, but these guys are also out of their league when it comes to level. Not sure where they will fall, but playoffs are a stretch.
Dallas Red Raiders- Dallas has some talent around the field, but lacks the depth to play 4 quarters of football.
Virginia Punk Rockers- Looks like we’ve got our first gut job. Sigh.
Galaxy Aces- Again, fairly out leveled, playoffs will be a stretch.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Predicted Western Champ: Tallahassee
Predicted Runners-Up: San Diego, Philadelphia, Fresno
So that’s that.
I think A7 will be a bit less competitive top to bottom, but the battles for 4th through 12th seeds are all up for grabs in my opinion, which should make for a fun season either way. I can promise one thing, we won’t be taking anyone for granted.
Good Luck West!
