Season 7 is all over and the Eastern Europe A #4 League Champion has been crowned. Congratulations to the Vilnius Velociraptors, who defeated the Secretville Offtopics 24-13.
The Raptors continued to utilize the formula that has worked well throughout the playoffs, which is a heavy dose of smashmouth rushing football combined with a stifling defense that kept Secretville behind the entire game. The Raptors' offense came at Secretville with a three pronged attack, utilizing the two backs Cylon Twill and Rollin Thunderstrike to pick up most of the yardage while receiver Miso Maunaga continually worked over the secondary to keep the defense confused. The Raptors also managed to shut down one the Offtopics biggest defensive threats in DE Frederick Voltaire, who had only one tackle to his credit in the game. Keeping him out of contention seriously hindered Secretville's ability to make a big defensive play and get back into the game. Vilnius ate up the majority of the clock in the first half with a slow moving but effective short yardage offense. The Raptors were satisfied to drive down the field in five yard increments and keep the ball out of Secretville's hands. The Offtopics got off to a bad start when their first possession resulted in two sacks for the defense, and their second ended on second down with a huge Bullrush Nomark fumble, which led to a Raptors touchdown and another five minutes off of the clock. Secretville's only success in the half would be a long field goal to end the second quarter.
The Offtopics found a bit of a groove entering the third quarter, with QB Armchair McCreedy and HB Bullrush Nomark finally able to find some room to work, and picking up a touchdown. The momentum seemed to turn in their favor after a defensive stand forced the Raptors to punt, and the Offtopics drove down the field for another three points. Vilnius came back at them hard, utilizing the three way attack and knocking the Secretville defense on its collective rear. The Raptors' D then stepped in, forcing a three and out possession that would be the last time Secretville would have the ball. Vilnius ate a full eleven minutes off of the clock on their final drive, ending the game with three kneeldowns from victorious QB Elvis Elvison. The Vilnius Velociraptors now go down in the annals of Goalline Blitz history as the Season 7 Eastern Europe A #4 League Champions, defeating the team that handed them their first loss in the first game of the season. Congratulations, Raptors.
