How are promotions determined? is it by playoff or regular season?

both, playoff wins are the first determinant. conference championship winners are automatically promoted. extra teams (if needed) are promoted based first on playoff wins (i.e. if you made it to the conference championship youre next in line because you have 2 wins). then it goes playoff appearances, so if you make the 2nd round you get promoted over people who made only the first round. after that its regular season record.

right now athens is 3rd in line in alpha, and has a good chance for promotion now that cologne has been knocked out even if you lose to stockholm.

at this point id say its safe to assume helsinki and stockholm will win their games and get promoted almost 100% just for that, and that lyon will as well. atlanta is probably going to be the 4th bbb7 team, if they win against birmingham. athens would be 5th, berlin, if needed, 6th.

from the looks of it id say there are going to be 4-6 bbb7 promotions into a4 next season.

Helsinki is getting promoted on the basis of them being the coolest team.

Based on that Athens would already be pro.

I have a sneaky suspicion Cologne will end up folding

youre better long run if you keep your team together and steamroll bbb7 next season. your financial house will be totally in order and could go after lvl 40s right away in a4.

The owner (longtime online friend of mine) is going through some things and wont be back on GLB for a while. I am not sure if there is anyone on the team that wants to take over ownership. We may try to merge the team with a WE BBB 8 team one of the GMs own.

In all its pretty sad, we couldnt build a playoff winner, and the community here has been really cool.

well we can pretty much say without a doubt that stockholm, helsinki, lyon, and atlanta will be in we a4 next season. my guess is that two more teams will get promoted as well. athens would be the 5th team promoted, berlin would be the 6th. if a 7th is needed and dusseldorf stays human controlled they will get promoted. if they go cpu the 7th would be birmingham.

From looking at things, my guess is that 5 will be promoted.

only 2 are guaranteed, although at this level it is always safe to assume 4 are as close to guaranteed as possible. the others depend on the breaks, a lot of teams sell back on the last day, and it has a trickle down effect throughout the whole continent's leagues.
