No, I'm not crying wolf this time, though I'm sure some will be suspicious. After 5 amazing seasons, the players on MTD will be hanging up their Thorny Devils uniforms for the last time this season. From an auspicious start in AA#3, MTD rose to PRO in just two seasons on the backs of great agents and gameplanning, taking out teams with higher levels along the way.
We have spent three exciting seasons in Oceania PRO Zeta, full of ups and downs along the way. In Season 5, we started with a 2-5 record only to finish 10-6 and earn a playoff spot. We snuck through two rounds to face the 'Nites in the championship. I'm a game watcher (without knowing the score), so you can imagine how I felt after taking a 28-7 lead into the half. The 'Nites proved why they are among the elite after putting up 28 unanswered points in the 2nd half to take the game 35-28 and earn a trip to the championship.
You might say that game was the start of the end, but you'd be wrong. We came back strong, recruited some great agents to build a deeper team and had a lot of success in Season 6, finishing 11-5 and earning another playoff spot. But the latter half of this season, real-life started to get in the way of my GLB time, and I hit the wall, so they say. GLB burnout was evident as we 3 of 4 to finish the season and were blown out in the first round by a great BDC team.
We came into season 7 with a very similar roster as we had in season 6, and we should finish .500 this season, hopefully with the 8th and final playoff spot. We're playing all of our games to win, but it became clear to me that I did not have the time to continue running a team at this level. It was not an easy decision, but with some other things going on, it was the right time to make it.
Some of our players are going to be staying in Oceania PRO while others will move on.
Please don't try poaching guys, most will be staying within a family of teams run by agents on our team.
It has been a pleasure playing this game with you guys, and I'll still be around in some capacity. Good luck to everyone this postseason and in the coming seasons.
Cheers,
Scace
