Honestly, there is only 1 game that lights a fire this week & that
honor belongs to the Ufa Tycoon/Hungarian Hitmen faceoff. The top
end of the playoff seeds are basically going to come down to a few
games in the next few 'weeks'.
So let's take a look at the match-ups & what the possible implications
they may have.
X-clinched playoff
x-1 D.C. Redskins 13-0-0 vs 11 Gridiron Gryphons 4-9-0
The Breakdown: Their season is basically a wrap up over the
next few weeks. Looking over their matchups with Siberia, Illegal,
& Donetsk, the have a gameplan that wins. The Gryphons will be
taking their lumps before going against the Nyíregyháza Tigers &
Wallachia Impalers in a pair of good matchups.
The Score: DC 140-0
The Recap: DC grounds the Gryphons: 122-0
x-2 Siberian Express 12-1-0 at 13 Wallachia Impalers 4-9-0
The Breakdown: The Express are on line to the #2 seed & their
loss to DC did little to slow them. The Impalers have won their closer
rated games but fall a bit short on overall levels. I expect this team's
game plan to make for some good upsets next season.
The Score: Siberian 150-7
The Recap: Siberian's D takes the Impalers to the Gulag: 115-0
x-3 Illegal Smexies 11-2-0 at 16 Vienna Bulldogs 1-12-0
The Breakdown: The Smexies are currently tied for #3 with
Donetsk & the real tie breaker finishes their season. This week,
they take the Bulldogs to the pound just one week removed from the
Vienna's nice win against the Steel Pens.
The Score: Smexies 120-10
The Recap: Smexies give the Bulldogs some obedience lessons: 143-14
x-3 Donetsk Hammers 11-2-0 vs 12 Roman Legion CPU 4-9-0
The Breakdown: The Hammers look to pound the Legion & send
the CPU back to Rome. With a pair of wins looming, their faceoff
with the Smexies in week 16 will be a good throwdown. The CPU run
Roman Legion has been holding the line between the middle of the
pack teams & the slower build/rebuilding teams. Not much to change
as they look to be handed 3 more losses.
The Score: Hammers 144-14
The Recap: Hammers help the fall of the Roman empire: 153-0
5 Moscow Iron Curtain 8-5-0 at 10 Nyíregyháza Tigers 6-7-0
The Breakdown: Moscow currently holds onto 5th (are they rooting
for a matchup with the Hammers or Smexies?), they hold the tie-breaker
over the 8-5 Ufa Tycoons & 8-5 Hungarian Hitmen. I don't see the
Tigers being able to unseat them this week, nor Wallachia or Vienna
getting the job done. Nyíregyháza looks to be out of contention as
they close out to DC, but they hold a slight edge over the Gridiron
Gryphons next week.
The Score: Moscow 120-10
The Recap: Iron Curtain falls over the Tigers: 101-0
6 Ufa Tycoons 8-5-0 vs 7 Hungarian Hitmen 8-5-0
The Breakdown: The Game Of The Week. The Tycoons have their key
game towards falling a position or getting a good chance to stay with
the rival Iron Curtain. The Hitmen are playing the underdog in this
game before hosting the Wolfpack in what could be the deciding factor
of meeting DC or the Express in the 1st round, neither match seems like
to be a fun prospect.
The Score: Ufa 80-30
The Recap: Tycoons buy off the Hitmen: 73-10
8 Gunzenhausen Wolfpack 6-7-0 at 14 Istanbul Raging Bulls 1-12-0
The Breakdown: The Wolfpack has been playing catch-up after
meeting 4 of the top 5 teams in the 1st half of the season. They have
a heavily favored matchup this week before having to go on the road to
Hungary in what may be the decider of the #7 seed. Istanbul gets no
favors as they finish out the season, but give them time & they may
turn into a dominate team in another couple of seasons.
The Score: Wolfpack 50-13
The Recap: Wolfpack swarm over the Bulls: 150-0
9 Belmont Fire seers 6-7-0 vs 15 Steel Pens 1-12-0
The Breakdown: Belmont heads into the Pens stadium & look to pick
up a win, even though they are currently 6-7 like the Wolfpack, they have
a pair of Championship contending teams on the horizon with the Smexies
& Express heading their way. Not sure what is up with the Pens as at least
1/2 of their teams seems to be Inactive at any 1 time. Their 1 win was
against Istanbul & any game that gave them even money (even the advantage
against the Roman Legion) came up a loss.
The Score: Belmont 80-10
The Recap: Fire seers smelt the Steel 86-0
