A good week for underdogs makes me 0-4 this week and puts my record at 3-9. Good thing I have more imaginary GLB $$$ to continue betting.

Zeta Projections

Monty Pythons 15 1
Sevastopol Wolverines 14 2
The Cape Town Cubicles 14 2
The D-League Home For Underprivileged Children 13 3
Constantinople Romans 13 3
Rome Raiders 11 5
C-Town Hoodlums 10 6
The Wheatfield 8 8
Transylvania Terror 8 8
Draguignan Dragons 83 6 10
Terlingua Javelinas 6 10
Grodno Titans 4 12
Subotica Scorpions 4 12
Columbus Crush 2 14
Chernobyl Radionuclides 1 15
Elancourt Templiers 0 16

No change here.

Zeta RPI

Monty Pythons .631
Constantinople Romans .590
Sevastopol Wolverines .583
The Cape Town Cubicles .579
The D-League Home For Underprivileged Children .566
C-Town Hoodlums .539
Rome Raiders .537
Transylvania Terror .507
Terlingua Javelinas .496
The Wheatfield .485
Draguignan Dragons 83 .478
Subotica Scorpions .427
Grodno Titans .425
Chernobyl Radionuclides .414
Elancourt Templiers .410
Columbus Crush .403

The Romans get a convincing win over the Raiders and moves to the top of the teams-not-called-Pythons group. They play the 2nd of their 3-game-finale against Wheatfield (+6), where I expect them to keep their streak going and cover. Wolverines play the suddenly lethargic Raiders (+13) in another A8 reunion, but the game of the week goes to Elancourt v. Chernobyl. Both teams have long streaks on the line, and the spreadsheet is projecting a 10-7 Chernobyl win. I'll back up that 3 point margin.

And just to whet your appetite, the crystal ball for week 16 playoff teams:

C-T (+21) v. Pythons
Romans (+8) v. D-L
Raiders (+18) v. Cubicles
Wolverines (-12) v. Wheatfield

Alpha projections

Alpha RPI

NISSA Dauphins .624
Chernobyl Meltdowns .617
Kharkiv Thrashers .597
Black Sea Pirates .564
Lisbon Crows .545
Woburn Tanners .531
Transylvania Impalers .512
Tallaght Outlaws .504
Saratov Catrades .485
BERLIN RAIDERS .476
Tskhinvali Rebellion .466
Jax Beach B.O.H.I.C.A .418
Fehérvár Enthroners .415
Sacramento Storm .406
Bohemian Grove Molechs .392
International Players .375

Sitting at 10-1, Lisbon players became very defensive when I posted a 12-4 projection for their season. Now at 11-3 with a finale against NISSA, I expect a much quieter audience. The Pirates win moves the Impalers down, but the remaining games for the Impalers, Catrades, and Outlaws are not expected to be close -- except for the Catrades finale against the Pirates.

Impalers have Tanners (-30) and Rebellion (+77) and I don't expect surprises there.
Outlaws have Chernobyl (-22) and Storm (+76) and those should also go as predicted.
Catrades have Enthroners (+162) and Pirates (+5). If they beat the Pirates, Catrades will go in 7th and Impalers go in 8th. If the Pirates win, Impalers go in 7th, and Outlaws go in 8th. So essentially, the fate of all 3 teams will rest on that game.

This is an interesting finish, although it still means 1st round action against NISSA and Chernobyl, so it's all just academic. Getting back to the present, no real close contests this week, but just to keep you motivated, Chernobyl (-22) v. Outlaws and Tanners (-30) v. Impalers.

EDIT - nevermind

EDIT 2 - Still find it odd that the Projections have Pirates losing another game this season.... it's certainly possible - but safe money says we finish the season 12-4

That is kind of strange. You have more wins against similar opponents than Catrades and shouldn't be the dog in your week 16 game. The only thing I can think of is that of the teams that they beat, they did beat a lot of them by a bigger margin than you guys (e.g. Catrades 133-0 over Rebellion, Pirates 107-17 over Rebellion). It shouldn't account to much, especially since those are blowout wins, but it's the only explanation I can think of.

Then again, the magic spreadsheet has proven time and again it knows what it's talking about

Well.. as of week 7, the spreadsheet had Pirates finishing the season 8-8... It seems that it only drops the number of projected losses after we have already beaten a team which it projected we'd lose against. The projections do give a good place to start talking about games.. and for individual games it seems pretty good - but the overall projections don't really impress me. That said - I do appreciate them though, because they do provide a place to begin discussing the league.

Lisbon, in my opinion, would have won the last two games it lost if trades hadn't demolished our chemistry.......but oh well, we'll get our chance in the playoffs.
