there is a lot at stake playoff related in these last games. pangani has, almost assuredly, sown up the number one seed. the tanzanias fight it out for second tomorrow. ghana could climb from 8th to fourth easier than it might look. and the serpent eagles could, if they play lights out, get a higher seed, or if everything falls to form, the could even end up in the 7th or eighth spot.
a number of teams have their fate in their own hands. the quicama v. monrovia game could kick one out of the playoffs altogether. the winner assuredly makes the playoffs. if durban wins out, they will likely have a playoff game.
ghana needs help to climb to the fourth spot, but the two teams in the 4th and 5th spot do not have easy games ahead. zambezi plays durban and tanzania mounties back to back. while the eagles do the death march of top three teams. if zambezi's win tomorrow, they will pretty much take the fourth seed. if they can pull of an upset of the mounties, they might just get a 3rd seed. but then a monkey might fly out of my butt tomorrow also. the best we silverbacks can hope for is 12-4 and the fourth seed.
the key to everyone in the middle's finish could be the tie breaker system. it is possible, 4 teams could finish 11-5. each will have beaten one or the other. some will have better conference records, with their loss coming against the elephant team in the first game. i am unaware of what constitutes the system, but i am sure whatever it is, someone will feel the need to complain about it.
if ghana makes it to the at least the fifth slot, it will be interesting in that bracket. they will likely face a familiar foe from the single A days, probably the silverbacks at this point, but quicama and/or monrovia could change that. then if ghana gets past that game, they will re-match with pangani. as we all know, they are the only team to beat the hamburger pimp's in the regular season. while pangani likely is not scared of a re-match with ghana, they probably would prefer not play them either.
tomorrows games are going to be very, very interesting.
