I get busy in RL for a few days and people are clamoring for my return. You don't want the truth. Because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum. You need me on that forum!

Here's how I see today's games for the West.

Mentone Beach Assault
vs.
Possum Trot Plague

With only a sizable loss to the Thunder staining their otherwise impressive season, MB looks to be the 2nd or 3rd best team in the Conference at this point, depending on how highly you rank CCiA. Possom Trot seems a lock for the playoffs, probably somewhere in the 5-7 seed range. They were beaten soundly by the Thunder and the Gladiators but showed their potential by topping CCIA. I'm taking MB by 14.

Rainham Raiders
vs.
Mighty Chihuahuas

Chihuahuas by 255. Chihuahuas look to be a playoff team in the 6-8 seed range.

Texas Shaggy Bevos
vs.
Dallas Hitmen

In a battle between two solid teams both 13-3 in BBB last season but both unlikely to make the playoffs this season, I see Texas winning by 21

Bakersfield Nanananas
vs.
Washington Wookiees

Wookies are a team on the cusp of the playoff group - will they finish just inside or just outside the postseason 8? This game they win by 150+

Omaha Lightning
vs.
Oklahoma City Twisters

Would the real Omaha team please stand up? Omaha is definitely a playoff-quality team but depending what week you watch them, they could look like anything from a 4 slot to a 7 slot team. Omaha by 61.

Big Bear Avalanche
vs.
Corpus Christi Illegal Aliens

CCIA might be either a 2 or 3 slot playoff team depending on how you rank MB. Big Bear started very well but no longer looks like a playoff contender. CCIA by 23.

Virginia George Washingtons
vs.
Eugene SLUGs

Virginia is a hard team to figure. They might be as high as a 6 slot playoff team or could just miss out on the postseason heroics. Eugene can no longer be considered a legitimate playoff contender. Virginia by 13.

Timpanogos Thunder
vs.
Guadalajara Gladiators

Game of the week. The Thunder seem destined for the #1 playoff seed, although the games still need to be played, especially this one. The Gladiators are probably a 4-5 playoff seed, depending on where you rank Omaha. TT by 17.

Good as always Sly, but I think that the Omaha Lightning will surprise some top tier teams:

01/25/2009 at Corpus Christi Illegal Aliens -TOUGH Key Matchup

01/27/2009- Big Bear Avalanche - should win

01/29/2009 at Mighty Chihuahuas - should win

01/31/2009 at Timpanogos Thunder -TOUCH Key Matchup

Either we come out 2-2 or what I think 3-1...the only loss at the Thunder.....sorry, Sly! But hey, optimistically, we could run the table...

Omaha's best showing all season was probably their victory last week over the Gladiators. But it's still hard to reconcile your optimistic vision of Omaha as a team that could run the table with the team that lost to Virginia, and just 3 games ago had the stuffing beat out of them in a huge, 35 point loss to Possom Trot. As stated, depending on the game, Omaha looks as good as a 4 seed or as bad as a 7 seed. I think Omaha should be far more concerned about not being upset by the Mighty Chihuahuas than to try to fabricate unrealistic scenarios where they suddenly become good enough to beat CCIA and Timpanogos.

That's why I like GLB, so much like the NFL...on any given day, one team CAN surprise another. Better to be an optimistic than a "glass half empty" guy!, I mean looking back:

Season Five

Season Four

http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=95991

Season Three

http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=49939

I have to be a little optimistic, don't I??

Sadly the Omaha games cited above include season 3's matchup with the Humboldt Harvesters (former owner with his former team name) and fail to include that Omaha forfeited by ducking our challenge last season.

I guess I can understand how, given we were rebuilding a gutted team in season 4 while your team was far ahead at that time and again in season 5, that it's pretty dismaying to accept that in such a short time your team went from far, far ahead of us to far, far behind us. You can either live in the past or accept reality and try to learn from it. Either way, a lesson is about to be taught to your team courtesy of CCIA!

I don't check youtube videos from my phone so I'll just conclude it's something you do when you're daydreaming that your current team is WAY better than it really is

Haha...ducked your challenge??? Funny stuff...."far, far, behind us". Good team, sure....far, far ahead....no. Congrats on your championship in the completely gutted BBB #11 last season. You have played 2 decent teams so far this season and you are 1-1. We'll see how the rest of you season shapes up. I'd say CCiA is a 4-6 seed.

So just using your logic of what a "good team" apparently is, that would mean you played 3 good teams with a 1-3 result, since you also lost to a team that wasn't even a "good team"? Do I have that right? If not, could you clarify what you consider a "good team"?

I never mentioned anything about my team. We definitely had a couple of bad games in there, and we have struggled with our game planning a little this season. My opinion is still the same, you guys end up no better than the 4 seed.
