Date Line: Hell Valley, The Monkey Barrel Stadium, Attendance 75,130
In front of a screeching crowd that was deafening at times, the Dart Frogs brought home a victory from their trip to Hell Valley, defeating the Snow Monkeys 37-30 in a pass heavy contest. The Monkeys swung the score in their direction early in the second half to take a 24-20 lead. The lead was short lived as Jack Thorpe took a pitch 70 yards to paydirt a mere twelve seconds later to regain the lead for the Frogs. After Hell Valley tied the game at 27 early in the 4th quarter, the Dart Frogs scored a touchdown and a field goal, then ran out the clock for the victory. It was a hard fought and clean game, as neither team had a turnover or a penalty.
One of the newest members of the Dart Frogs, Mayor Chapstick, was impressed by the Snow Monkey squad. “Those guys were quick and fast and seemed to have better verticals than we do. I thought we were going to get blistered. It would have really chapped me had we lost, and I’d be pretty sore, but fortunately, we ended up licking our lips over some of the coverages we faced,” said Chapstick, while mentioning that actually licking lips is not a recommended method of moisturizing. Mayor’s wife, Carmex, and son, Blistex, enjoyed the game from a climate controlled and balmy suite on the visitors’ sideline. Since his arrival, Chapstick has had a soothing affect on the team, showing a real knack for smoothing over irritations in the clubhouse.
While the game on the field was clean, not all of the Frogs stayed calm. The fans in Hell Valley are infamous for their efforts to provoke the opposition. Fans there have been known to go so far as to fling poop at the competition. However, they soon learned not to taunt the Frogs, who respond emphatically to provocation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bC9P1EavtfU&feature=related). The Frogs return home tomorrow to face another difficult challenge from the Psychonauts visiting from Tibet.
