So, how is everyone doing at mid-season?

I cheated in the tables to get around the Lisbon Conspiracy (see Week 7 thread for details) and gave Lisbon a shutout. It will correct itself if Elancourt ever scores on another team.

Zeta predictions

1 The Cape Town Cubicles 16 0
2 Monty Pythons 15 1
3 The D-League Home For Underprivileged Children 14 2
4 Rome Raiders 13 3
5 Sevastopol Wolverines 12 4
6 Constantinople Romans 11 5
7 C-Town Hoodlums 9 7
8 The Wheatfield 8 8
9 Transylvania Terror 7 9
10 Terlingua Javelinas 7 9
11 Draguignan Dragons 83 6 10
12 Subotica Scorpions 4 12
13 Grodno Titans 4 12
14 Columbus Crush 2 14
15 Chernobyl Radionuclides 1 15
16 Elancourt Templiers 0 16

No change here.

Zeta RPI

Monty Pythons .641
The D-League Home For Underprivileged Children .636
The Cape Town Cubicles .633
Sevastopol Wolverines .555
Constantinople Romans .552
Rome Raiders .552
Terlingua Javelinas .546
Transylvania Terror .530
C-Town Hoodlums .525
The Wheatfield .499
Draguignan Dragons 83 .441
Subotica Scorpions .421
Chernobyl Radionuclides .418
Columbus Crush .408
Elancourt Templiers .382
Grodno Titans .379

Romans and Wolverines drop out of the top tier group after playing the worst 2 teams. Next week looks much the same, mostly lopsided games. Except an EEA8 grudge match between the Raiders and Pythons! The projector says the Pythons win 29-12, but I'll take my 0-1 record and pick the Raiders (+17) to make it closer.

Alpha predictions

Lisbon Crows 15 1
Chernobyl Meltdowns 15 1
NISSA Dauphins 13 3
Kharkiv Thrashers 13 3
Woburn Tanners 12 4
Tallaght Outlaws 10 6
Transylvania Impalers 9 7
Saratov Catrades 9 7
Black Sea Pirates 8 8
BERLIN RAIDERS 7 9
Sacramento Storm 5 11
Fehérvár Enthroners 4 12
Tskhinvali Rebellion 3 13
Bohemian Grove Molechs 3 13
Jax Beach B.O.H.I.C.A 1 15
International Players 0 16

Well looks like my cheat suddenly makes Lisbon the best team. Oh well.

Alpha RPI

Chernobyl Meltdowns .633
Kharkiv Thrashers .623
NISSA Dauphins .621
Black Sea Pirates .545
BERLIN RAIDERS .540
Tallaght Outlaws .518
Woburn Tanners .505
Transylvania Impalers .505
Lisbon Crows .504
Saratov Catrades .481
Tskhinvali Rebellion .471
Jax Beach B.O.H.I.C.A .417
Sacramento Storm .405
Fehérvár Enthroners .397
International Players .364
Bohemian Grove Molechs .353

Unlike zeta, Chernobyl v. NISSA (+3) is a game with a lot at stake. NISSA's only loss came against a top zeta team, and against the same alpha teams, NISSA has done better. They should pull of the "upset" here.

It's interesting that the Thrashers, with an undefeated record and high RPI, is still projected to lose 3 games. For the interested, the projector has them losing to the Woburn (??), Chernobyl, and NISSA.

No need to get around that score to try and even the projections. We gave up those points so they should be counted for the projections. In any event, thanks for taking the time to do this.

Don't worry, I'm not trying to make Lisbon feel better about themselves It also screws up other teams in the rankings too. From the Lisbon perspective, the projection sees that Lisbon has given up 100% of the points to Elancourt over 8 games, and therefore Lisbon must suck, ignoring how bad Elancourt is. On the flip side, it also gives more strength to the other 7 teams, noting that they gave up 0% of Elancourt's points.

We play them in the upcoming game. I'll talk to our GMs to let them score something once we're up by 100 or so For the sake of getting better predictions of course...
