Lion Conference

Detroit Drive-By vs Cape Town Crusaders
Cameroon Tarzans vs Rabat Death Stalkers
Pygmy Death Squad vs Texas Armadillos
Impending Doom vs Algeria Desert Foxes
Strong Badia Tires vs Zulu Brotherhood
Swaziland Dachshunds vs Rwanda Riot
Kenyan Knights vs Nigerian Nightmares
Zimbabwe Bulls vs Lagos Eagles

Games to watch:

Cape Town (6-0) vs Detroit (6-0)
This game brings to mind the Sunday Night Football music and John Madden hurling pictures at a horse trailer. 6-0 vs 6-0. Nice. It would be even nicer if the game lived up to the hype, but I'm not sure I see it. The Crusaders are looking great, for now, but they have yet to really hit the meat of the Lion Conference. Neither has Detroit, really, but their overall ranking, levels, etc, is just silly. I think the Crusaders will give them a decent game, but end the end the best team in AA will be too much for them to handle.

Rwanda Riot (4-2) vs Swaziland (3-3)
While Rwanda has a edge in the overall record, Swaziland has a decided edge in talent. On paper, anyway. The Riot already proved that doesn't mean too much, however, by beating both the Zulu Brotherhood and the Lagos Eagles, both having better looking "scouting reports". The Dascho...the Dachsh...err, the weenie dogs have look very competitive in their games this season as well, with a win over Impending Doom and their 3 losses to three pretty solid teams. I'm going with the small upset in this game, picking Swaziland to win it.

Nice write up PBer.... I hope we can stay with Swaziland this game, but I'm not too sure yet.

PBer... Riot is not the favorite for that game so picking the weenie dogs is not an upset. This game is like a college matchup, with the weenie dogs being a #2 or #3 ranked Big 12 school and the Riot being like Utah or something, decent record on paper but you know....
Anyways i just hope we give em a decent game =p

Thanks for the write up, and since we're slated to be one of the games to watch, does this mean we get more FAME points? Since we'll be moved up the time slot by the network execs via flex scheduling and all.

Algeria is way better than this. Not sure what's up, but we'll be on our feet soon.

An 0-6 start is a pretty tough hole to dig out of.

And it may have to be dug out of next season. Quite frankly, we're confused by our record.

I'd say Rwanda is a favorite in their game this week, but based solely on their record. Swaziland is a very good team, and it will take an exceptional effort from the Quiet Riot squad if they want to pull out a win.

As far as Algeria goes, there are a few things working against you:

- The early season loss to the Breakers in your OOC game. They are a good team, but not one of Elephant's best.
- Having to face Detroit, the Pygmy's, the Tires, and the Tarzans in 4 of your 1st 6 games. Ouch. You really needed to pick off the Knights in the middle of that stretch.
- You have a very solid team, but the middle of your offensive line is still "catching up" a bit . . . makes it tough to keep a consistent running game. This game is a lot easier when your HB is averaging 4.5 yards per carry rather than 2.5, you know?

All that said, the last half of the schedule is going to ease up, and your defense is good enough to keep you in games. You aren't yet shut out of the playoffs, but you need to get it in gear pretty quickly.

Strong Badia started 0-5 last season, won their next 8 in a row and made the playoffs. It won't be easy Algeria, but it is possible.

Riot is about to hit the hard part of our schedule, then again the last 3 opponents we've faced has been rated higher. Its just tough to pull out victories against team that are rated 5+ points higher. This is still a building phase for this team so i'm just glad we are keeping games close and hopefully squeak out a win or 2 out of it.

Good game. I don't know wtf happened with those last 2 play calls. Definitely wasn't set up to pass it in that situation that late in the game.

Good game Dachshunds - it was definitely a nail biter... I about jumped out of my seat when we turned around and passed from our own end like that.
