Here is why you shouldnt be ranked #1...

Your opponents have a .300 record(against teams with a .650 record)....
Anchorage's opponents have a .650 record(against teams with a .640 record)...

the Maulers have played teams with good records against better teams.

youve played teams with a poor record against better teams.

That's just a scheduling matter. But that's fine. We just have to wait I guess.

Anchorage vs Carolina W 28-19 - 9 point margin of victory
Anchorage vs Compton W 34-3 - 31 point margin of victory

Bay Area vs Carolina W 55-17 - 38 point margin of victory
Bay Area vs Compton W 48-10 - 38 point margin of victory

This is the best way to judge how we match up, how we did against the same teams.

you also gave up 71 pts. to the 12 ranked team in our power rankings.

you can make excuses all you want, but the maulers have been week in, week out more consistent than you guys. Your best win thus far is against the 5th ranked team in the east, which we all know is like playing the 8th or 9th ranked team in the rest.

yeah, you guys just have to wait for more of the season to unfold. Theres almost always a team that is misranked early because of strength of schedule played.

So we're not a highlight reel team, never have been, never will be, we just do enough to get the W in our column. Got a few games to deal with first, and a few competitive teams, and then we can match up your offence with our D and see which cracks first. Our team stats aren't too shabby either, 196.75yds/g given up in opponents offence.

First target, score over 35 points in a game this league season .

As a point of interest, has anyone divided the stats by total plays on offence/total plays on defence. Would be interesting how the stats would then add up, as the playing styles of the teams must affect the stats somehow (run first teams have less total plays per game as they eat up the clock, etc...). Might go do it just as an extra conversation starter as I have an hour to waste.

yeah, I've done a little with Holly. Even though we had a great game today, the Drunken Skulls still passed for 300 yards and had 22 possessions. I don't think I've ever seen a game where my defense plays less than 80 plays.

Think I figured that we had about 4.8 plays/possession for the Holly's defense and at the time, Chicago Thunder has 5.8 plays/possession for their defense. Just used the Thunder as an example when I was discussing this via PM. Cranked the numbers a couple games ago so most likely, we are down to around 4.5 plays/possession.

Doesn't sounds like a lot but if there were 15 possession (which isn't uncommon for a Holly game), that is an extra 15 plays on offense. It can get kinda crazy at times and downright depressing to see a defense give up 300 yards but then I go, "its only dot football" and we have over 700 yards.

i normally don't get involved in these threads, but your whining is REALLY starting to annoy me.

quite frankly, i think you're lucky to be number 2, and when the season ends, i think you'll be VERY lucky to still be at number 2, and, i think you'll have to have a few lucky breaks go your way to get a home playoff game.

you have played ONE opponent with a .500 record currently, and you have yet to face any of the top 7 teams. that's a lucky break in scheduling for you, and that's how it goes some times.

but really, stop bitching about how you should be ranked number one, when you really haven't played anyone of merit. after you've played Roswell, Anchorage, Chicago, and heck, Grand Haven for that matter, come back and see me...right around week 16...

I wish my mom would let me use her credit card. She keeps taking mine.

Branch, Fig, Tree whatever your name is. For not getting involved you sure talk a lot of shit. But it's okay. Trust me, you guys can have your rankings, I'll take the victories. I will take (6-0) any day. We may have had a "soft" schedule, but we beat those teams handily. Not one single game was even close.

You all can have your rankings. Enjoy them while they last. Because at the end of the day, the only stat that matters is the "W" and so far we are tied for the most. That may change it may not. I doubt it.

I have no doubt in my mind we will beat RGB when we play, by how much is the question!

All you can do is continue to put up W's. Do so and you will be validated, fail to do so and youll see where we were coming from. Its a fickle subject.

edit: what happened with Roswell that you had to edit? Realize that you play them next and dont want to stir up the hornets nest? And you might want to choose someone before the last game of your schedule to prove that you are worthy of the top seed....In fact you should have left Roswell as thats the most important game for you right now to prove you deserve that top ranking.
