It seems that the forum is rounding out nicely with a new write up representing the East. Right on. Welcome to the jungle allout! With this comes the inevitable comparisons, so I feel a need to step it up and bring my A game to this thread. (guess it's just my competitive nature, and being as it looks like the Devils may be in for a bumpy season, I might as well put my stamp on this). So without any further delay, let 'er buck!!
Moose Factory Mounties vs. Niagra Falls Barrel Riders
So the Mounties have pretty much established themselves as a force to be reckoned with this year. They are the number one rushing team in the West, and behind James Drunckenmiller's 1252 yards, 15 TD's and astonishing 145 QB rating, they have firmly placed themselves inside the top 5 passing wise. Niagra Falls, started off with a bang, but have come back to earth in the past two weeks with losses to two other promoted teams. This is not a knock though. Both Doom Mountain, and Prince Edward Island look to be very strong teams, even in this extremely competitive conference. Unfortunately for the Barrel Riders, the trend will continue this week as the Mounties throw them to the curb with relative ease.
Vancouver Jaguars vs. Calgary Jaguars
Mrowwww, tsst, tsst, ( I know you like my sound effects) we have a cat fight on our hands! Vancouver stands no chance here in this tussle though. Calgary jacks up 150 plus on the clawless Vancouver squad.
South Manitoba Shady Devils vs. Victoria's Secret
Oh how I could write volumes on this monster match up! I'll pass though. Devils by a lot.
Quebec Eh's vs. Kodiak Bears
The Eh's got themselves into the win column last week with a nice win over South Manitoba. They enjoyed two very nice plays by CB's Dee Back and JB junior VERMIS where they picked off passes and took them yard. However, this week they run into Kodiac (K, Novus) and their elite HB, Roosevelt Frost. Frost has posted 652 yards on 63 carries with 9 TD's to date. This coupled with Quebec's lack of run defense doesn't bode well for them. I'll take Kodiak to win this one handily.
Ontario Coyotes vs. Alberta Gangsters
Alberta's offense is powered by a 3 headed running monster consisting of the Laing brothers, Muscle and Power, and Lennon Creer. Ontario, on the other hand likes to pass, and QB Duke Kincaid has been very efficient in that regard this season. He likes to spread it around, but WR LeRoy "Swift" Robinson, has emerged from the pack racking up 356 yards and 6 TD's. Alberta's defense could possibly be exposed this week, as they have been week against the pass this season, and the Coyotes have done a pretty respectable job against the run to this point, so while at first glance I expected the Gangsters to win pretty easily, I expect this to be a pretty good game. I will take the Gangsters here, but wouldn't be surprised to see it go the other way.
Heartbreak Ridge Recons vs. Toronto Peace
Sorry to be brief here, but this is a David vs. Goliath matchup. The Peace don't hardly get out of bed before they realize that they've already won.
Queensland Exiles vs. Great Bear Lake Shamans
The Exiles are reeling right now after suffering the second straight loss, and probably not enjoying one of the few negative streaks they've had in their existence. The Shamans on the hand, put up a fight with a good Calgary squad, where defense was a staple until the fourth quarter when the flood gates opened and the Jaguars poured on 24 points. I'm not certain if they just tired too soon or what the story was, but they certainly won't be able to compete with a talented Exiles squad if that were to happen again. I think the Exiles are too well rounded for the Shamans here, and they win quite easily.
Doom Mountain Demons vs. Prince Edward Island Royalty
GAME OF THE WEEK
The 4-0 Royalty face off against another very good promoted team in the Demons (3-1) this week. This will be the toughest opponent yet for PEI this week, although they did eek out an impressive win in week one, and also have another good win against Niagra Falls. Doom Mountain has also had a pretty easy road to this point, and this game will be a good gauge of where they stand right now. Both teams are sporting very similarily rated offenses, and on defense the Royalty is number 1 against the pass, while the Demons hold the same honor against the run. This game should be one for the ages, as I expect whoever scores last in the 4th qtr wins. I won't pick a winner here, but I will wager that it is decided by 3 points or less.
