I did not number them because I cant really say for sure who is number 1,2,3, etc. Just look at the teams you are around in the rankings from top to bottom. I did not include my own team, Sydney, although I did a little writeup at the bottom. I think we are likely in contention for a home playoff game though.

Here you go:

Decatur Staleys – Probably have the highest levels of any team in the league, although they do have several inactives dotting their roster. They have very good management, but have not gotten breaks in big games the last few seasons. If they get those breaks, Decatur could run away with this thing. They certainly got no break in game #1 as they drew the Berlin Divine Right, likely the top team in Alpha this season. They follow up with Davenport and Apia. We find their mettle early. Lost to Perth, Apia, and Sydney last season, but beat Devonport. Chemistry = 71

Devonport Devils – The Devils have a high leveled starting lineup and good depth. Their DL will be one of the most feared in AA4 as they can bring the heat from every spot. Devonport was the streakiest team in the league season 6. Their results are a flip-flopping series of 3 game winning and losing streaks. Lost to Decatur and Apia, but beat Sydney and Perth last season. Tough games early vs. Decatur and Rochester. Chemistry = 78

Perth Pirates – Perth will give everyone on their schedule fits. They have an outstanding starting lineup, including a 4000 yard passer, 2000 yard rusher, and a monster OL. They only lost games to the promoted teams last season, split with Sydney (won reg. season and lost playoffs) and lost to Davenport. They beat Decatur and Apia. Perth always has solid planning and more than adequate depth. They have great team chemistry and start off with a fairly easy schedule, so their morale will be high when they get to the tough stretch. Chemistry = 98

Apia Evil – Apia can beat anyone in the league, yet can be beaten by anyone. Last season they beat Decatur and Devonport, yet lost to Redcliffe and the Mountain Lions. They pushed Sydney to their limits and only lost by 3 points to finish 8-8. Looking over their roster, they have a tremendous OL, especially on the left side with Roadd Blockk. Can their right side protect against teams with a relentless pass rush? Denny Green will bring the heat and Redmane looks to be a solid CB. Can their other CB’s contend with some of the passing attacks in AA4? Beat Decatur and Devonport, lost to Sydney and Perth last season. Other than Decatur week 3, they have a relatively easy opening
schedule. Chemistry = 78

Komodo Dragons – An impressive 18-2 last season in A8. They lost their opener to Blood Gulch 34-30 and then again to Blood Gulch 35-34 in the finals. A break here and there and they could have been 20-0. This team is built around their pass rush. Dogg has 150 sacks the last two seasons combined, and Shep put up 42 last season. They are going to bring it from both sides and passing teams better be ready! Level 40 WR Orr, with over 2000 yards receiving last season, will lead the offense. Their overall average level is low, and they have several inactives, but Komodo will make noise in this league. They have a very tough early schedule. Chemistry = 85

Rochester Iroqouis – I am really impressed with this team. They were 17-2 in A7, losing two good games to the Wrecks. QB Butch Winnefield threw for over 7000 yards and 124 TD’s last season…..are you kidding me? He will take advantage of some of the suspect secondaries he will see. They also have a 3900 yard rusher in Quincy Wilson and two WR’s with at least 1700 yards. LDE Ford had 59 sacks and their secondary looks to be a group that will make plays. I do have some concerns with a few holes on their OL and a fairly high number of inactive players. Week 2 vs. Komodo is going to be an interesting matchup, but I look for them to struggle with the Dragon pass rush. Chemistry = 91

Waikiki Wrecks – 19-1 in A7 cannot be ignored, with their only loss coming in the league championship. They also beat Rochester twice. Their roster is solid, but not spectacular. They have no obvious weaknesses and they look to have a FB (level 42 Eric Martins) who will give the league a different look. Between him and Homerun Threat at HB, I look for them to try and establish their ground game. They have an interesting draw with Wellington week 1 which I look for them to win. Then it is off to Perth to find out how they stack up in AA ball. Chemistry = 91

Samoa Savages – 14-4 in A7 last season. This team will be solid up the middle with their big time C and NT, owned by an agent I have been fortunate to work with on the Tonga Thunderbirds. I know they are well built. If the Savages establish their run game they will likely need bumped up a couple of notches here. Their OL is impressive and their HB/FB combo is very nice. They probably have the best depth in the league and I am very impressed with their tackle machine LBing crew. Their level 40 CB appears ready to run with the best WR’s in AA. They should win week one against Memphis and then they play a tough schedule against the middle to upper tier of the league. Chemistry = 75
This is my sleeper team in this league.

Port Moresby Scallywags – 16-2 last season in A8, losing to Komodo and splitting with the Fiji Rage. Their roster is a little low leveled, like most of the promoted teams, to make a deep run. However, they will have solid game planning from the battle tested tttbrian, itsme, and Arliss. They got an easy Alpha draw and a schedule they can compete with early on. If they win those early games and their morale stays high, they will score some upsets. Chemistry = 96

Fiji Rage – I really like the look of Fiji’s starting lineup. They have their level 42 “triplets” at QB, RB, and WR. They also have a scary looking secondary. Oku is a 3500 yard rusher, but do they have the OL to get him established in AA4? Chris Ball had a SICK 3900 yards receiving last season in A ball and will make a splash here as well. Can they protect the QB and get him the rock? Raged Cage with 69 sacks last season will also look to make a difference this season. Brady Watts, a level 41 CB with 9 INT’s is also a playmaker. I see a team with tremendous star power and will win a lot of games. I don’t think they have the depth to make a run at a home playoff game though. They have a very tough stretch early in the year with Solomon out of Alpha and Sydney, Komodo, Samoa, Apia, etc. Chemistry = 93

Anal Bum Cover – 14-4 in A7 last season. They were very tough in their 4 losses and played close games. Their roster is under leveled for AA4, but they game plan to keep games close and will make noise this season. This is a team that cannot be overlooked. Home of former A8 champion QB Brady Jess. Drew the Raptors out of Alpha, which will most likely be a loss. Week 2 they come back with Port Moresby and we will see where these teams stand. Chemistry = 78

Intergalactic Sub Mariners – They are a holdover from AA4 last season where they only won 4 games. They have some good pieces which will allow them to be much more competitive this season. However, they have quite a few inactives and lack any real star power. They drew the always tough Atlantis Lost Souls out of Alpha and have a fairly tough opening schedule. Chemistry = 81

Alaska Wild – 3-13 last season in AA. This team definitely has some pieces that will cause everyone trouble. Level 42 QB Masters looks tough and HB Lance Ball looks to be a dual threat. Overall they appear to be a tad under leveled, especially on defense. If they can establish Ball up the gut behind the big RG Tank Austin, and if Masters can be efficient in the short passing game, they will have a chance to improve on last season. They have several inactives and a coin flip draw vs. Alpha. Apia will look to beat the “wild” out of them week 2. Chemistry = 86

Tasmania Dragons – demoted from AAA2. Going to be tough for them not to get demoted again. Bundaburg will beat them by 200+ week 1, and then they will lose their next 6 before they get a shot at Redcliffe. Chemistry = 67

Redcliffe Sharks – CPU

Sydney Sea Wasps – We will be in the top tier of teams, just not sure exactly where. Plus, I don’t like to rank my own team. Went 13-5 last season, losing to Devonport and Perth. Some teams were able to take advantage of some predictable game planning at times as the Wasps got very pass happy offensively and blitz happy defensively. We definitely have talent, but can we get it organized and back to championship form? Tough draw against the Radamanzaz week 1, then a dismantling of Redcliffe week 2, before the meat grinder starts. Chemistry = 81

Oline is my personal worry, too. Though, in the scrimmages we've only given up one sack, and we've done plenty enough throwing. We'll find out with time, though.

Good luck to all!

Fiji is probably a touch too low on this. This is a game about players, and they have players!

Nice write up IU. Port Moresby is trying to get some talent but FA is tough this year. We also lost our OC so I have to fill in, oh boy!!!!!

GREAT writeup, my friend! I was anxiously awaiting it, and it certainly didn't fail to deliver!

Very good placement of teams as well, I have to say. Hopefully another brave soul will step up to do Sydney this year.

Nice job IU. Apia hopes to get a home playoff game this season so we cannot afford any bad losses this season.

Thanks for the writeup, and I just hope that Decatur earns those victories, and that we get back to our form too. I would like to give each and every one of our Opponents a headache, and I am glad to play Berlin, to see if we can even be considered in the conversation. Thanks again for the writeup, and look forward to the Forums getting back to normal, we missed our Rivals and friends last season, so here's to a new season, and to Saltman and Mutley making me have to turn the car around again! lol

Great write-up IU Hoosier, thanks for doing it! As a new season starts, it is hard to tell who will be best until a couple of games have been played, but in general, I think you are pretty close. Of course, I don't know anything about half of you! Quick breakdown (and I have no problem throwing numbers out there as you all know, no matter how wrong they may be!):

Top 5: Those fighting for home field in the playoffs
1 - Sydney
2 - DECATUR
2 - Devonport
4 - Perth
4 - Rochester

Next 4: Rest of the playoff contenders (one won't make it)
6 - Apia
7 - Komodo
8 - Fiji
8 - Waikiki

Next 4: Not quite there yet
10 - Samoa
10 - Port Moresby
12 - Intergalactic
13 - An Album

Bottom 3: Not going to be here next year
14 - Alaska
15 - Tasmania
16 - Redcliffe

SWIFT! man having you and Monsieur here is going to be fun, and if you throw in brianttt, this should be one of the best written up and about leagues in GLB! I hope that you continue your great work from last season.

I will be in on your over / under game this season too, that is if you run it. -Naka

Raptors are the team to beat in Alpha. They are 2-0 against BDR in regular sesaon games and the Cowboys are very good too. Those 2 with BDR are the cream of Alpha.
