You may recall last season when I created the original Alpha vs. Zeta thread, making Week 1 predictions of inter-conference games and being correct in a whopping 13 out of 16 games. Well it is that time again and Zeta still is the best; therefore, Zeta teams will be listed first in the matchup predictions.

Brisbane Gods @ Playboy's Players Club
So Cal BDC @ Melbourne Dreadknocks
Sth Queensland Crushers @ Firmament Mystic Prophets
Barossa Grapestompers @ West Scranton Invaders
Banzai Pipeline 'Nites vs. Brantford Mustangs
Port Moresby Demons vs. Brisbane Bandits
Jersey Wildcats vs. Cascade Cajun Crushers
Cook Island Convicts vs. Papua New Guinea Cannibals
Brisbane Heat @ Fakaofo Bomb Squad
Vanuata Kava Sharks vs. Tonga Ikale Tahi
Samoa Gangsters vs. Orlando Prime Timers
Mata-Utu Voodoo vs. Mean Machine
Melbourne Thorny Devils @ Fiji Sea Turtles
Christchurch Knightmares @ Emerald City Flying Monkeys
Fiji Stingers @ Aussie Cardinals
Tasmania Swarm vs. Canberra Strike

Oh no! My predictions end in a tie! Well, Zeta will probably come up with an upset to win it. No bias at all this time and that is a scientific fact.

Game of the Week is Banzai vs. Brantford...the AAA rivalry reborn!

Finally the season is before us! I am definitely interested on getting a feel on how the new zone tweaks work.

If we have a rival in Alpha, Brantford is it.

The Samoa Gangsters are longtime friends dating back to season 1. Looking forward to finally having a real game with them.

It's good to see Orlando again, one of the remaining original season 1 teams!

Well looks like Zeta won 10 out of 16 in our first preseason matches, but we all know how these don't really count. Just a preview of what is to come!

I don't think so, I doubt anyone cares about scrimmages .

Teams are successful because of, in order

#1 - Gameplan (by far)
#2 - Build
#3- Level (distant 3rd)

We are only testing out 2 and 3 here, lets wait until week 1

That's debatable. Without good builds any team will suck, but I'm sure some with good players could win with only the base tactics.

I think you could win with the basic offensive AI and a modified playbook.

Using the basic defense would be hard.

I agree that s very debatable, like with a woman, catch one in her early 20's with a bad build and she will suck more than one with a good build. Also you can take one with a great build and put a ring on her finger and as sure as shit her build will go to hell, but then she usually starts sucking less.

Seriously, I agree with this analogy but there are two schools of thought here. I think this is a popular opinion because just about anyone can get a cookie cutter build theoriy and produce a good player. Stepping outside conventional wisdom and building a unique defender like Adam Avalanche, Gordon James & Denver Last Dinosaur or Offensive studs like Dan Marino or Vin Numbers in his prime, just to name a few, is rare and takes patients, commitment and a little luck. At this point in the game getting good to descent builds are fairly easy, signing or building a real game changer damn near impossible

I believe teams loaded with depth and situational gimmick builds can completely dominate at times then stub their toes along the way with piss poor game planning or by getting caught off guard. Teams that lean heavy on specific build patterns are also at the mercy of Bort and his ever changing Sim adjustments. I believe we all have seen those guys along the way.

I do not in any way believe the team with the best build always wins. This is only my opinion now so stay calm! I am not real sure West Scranton had the best roster or the best team player for player across the board last season. They have a few of those irreplaceable key defender that just take over a game, compile the fact that they always have a great Defensive game plan going in and a solid balanced offense that does not make mistakes. As a result what you have is the best football team in Oceania and maybe in GLB regardless of the builds.

I find many people downplay game planning on here #1 because they have no idea how to do it correctly. #2 they may no nothing about football and all they know is what they read on the GLB forums or from playing Madden.

Some teams, no many teams chose the route we take at the Crushers. We know we do not have the elite supper stud builds, but our players have been together a long time and enjoy playing this game together. We try to correct where we can, work our ass off scouting and game plan the shit out of every game. It sure beats fighting a huge turnover rate every season. The downside is it's a lot of work and we have to take some chances that some of you don't or won’t at times but I think 77-16 is respectful in 6 seasons. We may never win a championship here but we will do our best to aggravate the shit out of you guys who can.
