As the league counts down to its most anticipated game of the year, tensions are mounting and coordinators are working around the clock to come up with the "perfect" game plan.
At about 9 a.m EST Thursday [12/18/08], the #2 Dresden Warlords (16-2) will visit the #1 Dublin Irishmen (16-2) with the Western Europe BBB #11's Alpha Conference Championship (Season 6) on the line.

There is no love lost between these two powerhouses, with accusations and insults flying around the league forums from every direction.
What may be lost is the fact the game will pit the top-ranked offense (Dublin) against the top-ranked defense (Dresden).
The first time Dublin's star halfback Flazenbock Nordstrom and Dresden's monster defensive end Stone "Sack Master" Wall collide, the impact is sure to be felt throughout Eurasia.
Plus, these are the two most well-rounded teams in the conference. The Irishmen have more touchdown passes than anyone, while the Warlords have rushed for more touchdowns than anyone.
Both teams have running backs garnering Pro Bowl consideration. Dresden's Eric D Nelson led the conference in rushing TDs and was seventh in yards. Dublin's top back, Nordstrom, was second in the conference in rushing yards and sixth in touchdowns.
Dublin has the top rated passer, while Dresden boasts the best QB tandem around. The Irishmen's QB A1ex Roberts leads the league in passing yards and TDs. The Warlords' Joti Vyin and Tavares 'Drop Da Bomb' Erasmus combine for the best completion percentage and yards per attempt.
Both defenses are absolute sack machines, ranking one and two in sacks and yards from sacks. And the teams combine to have three of the top four sackers this season, including Wall, who led the conference in sacks and sack yards. Plus, they each have one of the league's best passing rushing linebackers.
Close games often come down to last-second field goals, which is another area in which both teams excel. Their kickers rank one and two in field goals made, and they are the only two in the conference to have made kicks from longer than 50 yards.
But the great football that is about to be played is being overshadowed by bickering in the days leading up to the game.
The always vocal owner of the Irishmen has raised the ire of many in the last few days, accusing a pair of GMs of collaborating to cheat by sharing information between two teams in the Alpha Conference. The Dublin owner, cherrie, said two GMs who work for both the Malta Knights and Dresden used information gleaned from a Week Two Dublin vs. Malta game, in which Malta won 13-30, to unfairly help Dresden against Dublin in a regular season game. Dublin won that Week Eight game 13-37.
"I think I've made my opinion clear on the forums," cherrie told the Dresden Docket Tuesday, "an agent should not be a GM on multiple teams in the same conference. There is a conflict of interest there, and a sharing of knowledge which can create an unfair advantage to one team."
No such rules exist in Goal Line Blitz, and the GMs in question, the owner of the Warlords and the owner of the Knights deny any wrong doing and have vehemently defended their decisions to have the two GMs working for both team, where they primarily act as financial consultants and have little to nothing to do with game planning for Malta.
Additionally, if history repeats itself as expected, the winner, and maybe the loser, too, will be promoted to an "A" league next season.
cherrie said in the league forum she considered throwing the game to keep from being promoted and have another season in BBB to build a higher level roster. But she quickly backed off that when challenged.
"I'd rather get my head kicked in at the A level than throw a game against Dresden," cherrie wrote. "If it had been us and Amsterdam or Philly, I would have put more thought into the options."
Buer, the owner of Dresden, is refusing to give much in the way of bulletin board material, sticking to just defending his GMs.
"Only thing I have a problem with is referring to my GMs as 'Malta GMs,'" Buer wrote to cherrie in the forum. "They're completely separate, and completely trustworthy and I'd appreciate if you'd quit being an asshole like this."
The winner won't have much time to celebrate, as the league championship game is expected to be played about 48 hours later. The opponent will be the winner of the Zeta Conference Championship game between the #2 Cork Rebels (17-1) and #1 Bjelasnica Red Star (18-0).

For those who cannot wait to see the outcomes of these monumental games, results are often posted in the players' game log several minutes before being posted on the teams' and agents' home pages.
Full post-game coverage, including interviews with the players and team officials, will be available here Thursday morning.
