The #1 vs #8 Game
Amsterdam and Baton Rouge combine to boast a 17 game winning streak, so somebody is going to be disappointed around 9am CST tomorrow. Amsterdam has a seemingly unstoppable offense and a stingy defense that creates turnovers and only gives up an average of 2 scores per game. Baton Rouge, formerly the Gothenburg Vikings, is a formidable foe with a balanced offensive attack and a defense that can keep any opponent off balance with timely blitzes and a bend-but-don't-break mentality.
The first match up of the season between these two teams went the way of the Admirals, as they won 65-0 using a stifling defense that allowed less than 75 total offensive yards. Baton Rouge will have to find a way to keep their offense on the field and keep Amsterdam's off for their best chance to win.
Betting line: Amsterdam -42
The #2 vs #7 Game
Arkham and Pimpin met in week 5 and to say that Arkham kicked the crap out of Pimpin is an understatement. Arkham scored 59 straight points to open the game, and then finished the game by scoring with 14 seconds left. That made the score 125-16.
Pimpin has brought in some weapons since then, but it will not help. Sorry Tigers' fans, but you have no shot. None. Not even if Bort himself changed the code in your favor. Tell us how Arkham's ass tastes.
Betting Line: Arkham -77
The #3 vs #6 Game
Toulouse vs Dundee could be an interesting match up, if it were not for the fact that Toulouse doubled up Dundee in everything but the score. That was 58-3. Dundee was better than the 3 middle of the pack teams, but they aren't in the elite category and they don't know the password to hang out at the elite clubs.
Toulouse is gearing up to take down Arkham next week, so Dundee is just going to get in the way for about an hour.
Betting Line: Toulouse -45
The #4 vs #5 Game
The game of the week is Shetland Marauders vs Cologne Drenched Playboys for the right to play the Amsterdam/Baton Rouge in round two. 4 days ago these two teams played in one of the best games of the season, and Shetland was able to win 21-16 on the strength of their 3rd quarter surge and no turnovers all game. So who will be victorious this time around.
Same story second verse. Shetland is just damn good. They make very few mistakes and patiently attack attack attack until you simply submit.
Betting Line: Shetland -8
