Well, the final round of the regular season are here, and we have had both surprises and disappointments so far. Gonna do more of a preview than predictions this week, as most the games have a certain winner. Will probably do a rundown of the season as it went following this game, kinda like i did at halfway. Will make the predictions for play-offs too if ppl want.
Lion:
Rhein Main Magic Mushrooms at Katanga Diamonds
Katanga had their first loss of the season last week, and the hopes for a 16.0 season got shattered. They will still claim the #1 seed with a win today against Rhein Main tho, and that is about as sure as it gets.
Cape Verde Headhunters at Red Sea WaveGAME OF THE WEEK
An important game if there ever was one, this is a blast to finish the season. If CVH wins, they will hijack the #2 spot from RSW in the 11th hour. RSW can move up to #1 spot with a win, but sine that also requires Katanga to loose against Rhein Main, it looks like no more than #2 for them either. But as mentioned, that means winning today, or drop to #3. Hard to name a favorite here, as both teams have displayed great strength all season. CVH can loose out on a home field game all together if they loose, so they might be a little more motivated, and that could prove decisive. Should be exciting to watch, and it could be a game not decided until the very end. Ppl with heart conditions might want to have the hospital on speed dial
Pick 'Em
Band of Brothers at Kilimanjaro Kamikaze
BoB guaranteed themselves a top-4 spot with last rounds win against the Diamonds, and today's game gives them an opportunity to put on a good show for the fans.
Warriors of Anubis at Burundi Hutu
WoA is locked in #6 spot, and looks to be facing BoB or CVH in round 1 of the play-offs. They have had a good season, and has still only lost to the 5 teams currently above them in the table. Burundi was supposed to have their perhaps best season yet with the promotion of the best teams here, but have not been able to match the newly promoted teams at all, leaving them in #10 spot. Looks like that is where they will end the season aswell
African Fire at Freetown Palookas
AF has to win here to make the play-offs, as the Blue Jays are most certain to win out against Ethiopia. Freetown has been a great addition to the league, bringing confidence and great playing to almost all their games, and they are huge favorites today despite the 2 teams both sport 8-7 records. Most on the line for AF, but it is doubtful if they can create the surprise. Locking down Freetown's pass O will be the key, time will tell if they can pull it of.
Atlantic Blue Jays at Ethiopia Executioners
ABJ is certain to win this one, and will grab the #8 spot if Freetown can defeat AF, and that will be the 1st time in their franchise history that the team makes the play-offs. Looks like the Blue Jays can celebrate this great feat after tomorrows game.
Mogadishu Sharks at Malagasy Bushmen
Silly game tbh
Elephant:
Cairo Crocodiles at Richmond RaidersGAME OF THE WEEK
Very important game for both teams. Richmond will keep #1 with a win, but drop to #2 with a loss. Cairo can advance to #5 with a win, proved that Rwanda looses to EEORG, but will drop to #8 if they loose. So, if Richmond wins,m these 2 teams will meet in round 1 of the play-offs a week from now again. Not a fun scenario for Cairo if they dont show they can play on Richmond's level. The season started really well for the Crocs, but when they started facing the other top teams, they have come short almost every time. Not the season the fans had in mind, to say the least. Richmond has been nothing but impressive, and have perhaps the most seasoned squad in the league. Very possible league winner.
Pick 'Em
Real Men of Genius at Serengeti Wildebeest
RMoG cant loose this one, but have to look to the Richmond - Cairo game for help if they want to take the #1 spot. For that to happen, Cairo will have to win, so no doubt about who the RMoG are cheering for. Impressive season so far from the Real Men, and when they boost, no one will want to draw them in the knock-out's.
Casablanca White Houses at Cairo Cannibals
Cairo won their game against the Crocs last week, and have truly earned both the right to the Cairo and the Cannibals name. Currently in #3 spot, it looks like home field for the Cannibals this year. Even if EEORG moves past them to take #3, no one can get to them at #4. As long as they win this, which they will, easily.
Rwanda Assassins at EEORG BastardsBIG GAME
Very important game, and altho EEORG are big favorites, Rwanda has shown that they can turn the afterburners on at times, so you can never count them out. EEORG has made an impressive comeback from the shadows they put themselves in early on, and they are amongst the hottest favorites for the league title. Rwanda has been the dark horse all year, and looks to could be in the play-offs aswell. Could be a super game, could be a blow out. All depends if the Rwanda players feel up to it on the day.
Zanzibar Leopards at Dakar Dragons
Dakar can move up to #6 with a win, if the Crocs loose at the same time. Wont make a big difference tho, a neither Richmond, RMoG or EEORG is exactly a dream opponent in round 1. Only gets tougher from here, so hope the Dakar players enjoy this last gimme.
Lake M'Zumba Cannibals at Cape Town Shinobis
Lake M is currently in #8 spot, but can advance to #7 if Cairo looses and they themselves can defeat Cape Town. Not much to think about here, as Lake M is 100:1 favorites. Very talented team, but got to work on consistency if they ever want to make it all the way to the top.
Zimbabwe Black Rhinos at Swaziland Semnikati
Swaziland stirred up Lake M last week with a solid win, but it is too late for them to make the play-offs. 9 teams that could go to play-offs this year in Elephant, and the Semnikati drew the short straw this season. No doubt they will play for the top-4 next year.
Trinidad Trojans at Sierra Leone Head Shrinkers
Silly game tbh, again
