I just don't get why people insist that a Guard must have speed to pull in this game. If yo ulook at the playbook, there are only twoi plays in the whole thing where the RG is mobile at all. In each, the pitch goes deep to the backfield allowing a guard plenty of time to pull to the right while the HB cuts to the right and upfield.

Am I missing something here?

Nope. I have no idea why guards would need speed soft capped. My guard plays at LG and he usually doesn't move more than 3-4 yards on any given day. That is of course if it's not a blowout, in which case it doesn't really matter how many players your guard pancakes.

I am another one who doesn't understand the speed fixation also. I plan to never ever spend SP in Speed.

While softcapped speed is overboard, you do need some speed. My guard is at 22, his backup has a closed build but is clearly around 10, and on plays where we pull, the backup is completely useless. Training it to 30ish seems like plenty, but it does need to get there.

For RG, it helps on inside rushes to pick up a blitzing guy. In GLB, acceleration is agility + speed.

My thought is bad idea. Never put points on something that low, really. Though it's training options are poor, you might need to do vis/agi then spd/agi for a while if you don't mind waiting.

My threshold of training value is 28. Some people like to train higher, but I don't mind switching at 28. 23, no way

Fair enough, but we do agree that there is no need for a G to have that much speed right?

agility = acceleration in GLB.

Anyway, my opinion is that the o-line needs 30-40-50(48) speed, from the inside out. Unless you pull a ton with the RG or something.

If you want a effective pulling RG, I'd say softcap Speed. It helps to get in position quicker.

Its not the most 'OMG MUST HAVE IT SOFTCAPPED NOW' stat, but I'd say its the fourth stat that atleast needs to be softcapped.

I agree with pottsman completely, no need to soft cap speed but it should get a little love (25-30 is good in my mind). If you ignore it your man won't be in position.

That said, vision is really the important skill for a pulling guard, untill I raised my G's he would run out with plenty of time but would then stop and fail to engage any blocker. Higher vision=taking care of business.

I'm a big believer in taking speed to 48, agility to 60 for all lineman, including centers. Call it overboard, but there are obviously threads going around showing what a 90 agility/60 speed DT can do. I think speed is a bigger factor in quickness than everyone initially thought. Just because it makes sense that a slow but agile and strong blocker would be good in real life does not make it so in GLB.
