Red River Ruminants (2-7) at Stockholm Black Death (8-1) 13-24

The Black Death edged the Red River Ruminants who continue to play opponents very close despite their unimpressive record. This marks the 6th playoff caliber team the Ruminants have played in 9 games. Unfortunately for Red River the Black Death's QB Jim Dakota came to play with three TD tosses and 201 yards on 15 completions all coming in the first half of play in what looked like a certain blowout. The Ruminants acquitted themselves well in the second half though, shutting down the Stockholm offense and notching 3 scores of their own to keep it from becoming a rout.

Ingolstadt Hat Tossers (5-4) at Torpedo Cowthorpe (7-2) 24-37

Torpedo outpaced and outgained the Hat Tossers handily in this one as Cowthorpe wins big at home in front of 13,200 fans at The Torps Layer. MVP candidate QB Michael Dauber II torched the Tossers secondary for 341 yards and 3 TDs on 17 completions including a 79 yard bullet to WR Manny Matabo which gave Torpedo a 24-10 lead near the end of the first half. Ingolstadt rallied following a fumble recovery for a touchdown and was only down by 3 when Cowthorpe HB Micro Lab took over in the second half, converting 3rd downs seemingly at will.

København Hühnerfalken (7-2) at Tilburg Dream (3-6) 70-33

Heads were hanging in shame at Brotherhood of Steel Stadium as the København Hühnerfalken trounced the Dream handily. This game marks the second time that København has scored 70 points this season. The Hühnerfalken receivers had a field day pulling in 10 TD grabs and over 600 passing yards, with QBs Danny Kanell and Da Sniper each notching 5 TD passes. Tilburg did manage to move the ball well and score some points of their own but were simply outgunned in this contest and their bizarre blitz packages didn't help much.

iue5 acolytes (7-2) at Cambridge Chieftains (5-4) 23-21

14,280 screaming fans at University Field were treated to a great game with a sad finish for the hometown faithful as the acolytes steal one with a late field goal. The game was tightly contested throughout with iue5 taking a 14-7 lead into halftime in a game that saw 5 lead changes. The fourth quarter saw the Chieftains take a slim lead with just 2:16 left to play when Cambridge QB Quick Blower hit a quick pass to Wing Right over the middle for a touchdown. The acolytes would not be denied however and marched down the field for a score of their own and K Teh Kicker nailed the late kick from 18 yards out to seal the deal.

Vatican City Fighting Popes (6-3) at East Cairo Argonauts (3-6) 54-19

The Fighting Popes easily tore through East Cairo's defense on their way to their fourth consecutive victory and a showdown next week with the conference leading Stockholm Black Death. The Argonauts couldn't get much going on the ground against Vatican City moving backwards for -27 total rushing yards while the Popes smashed the ball down the throats of the Argonauts defenders racking up an ungodly 424.5 yards of rushing. HB sensation Da Speed rushed 30 times for 289yds and 2 TDs including a 66 yard scamper to start the game off on the Fighting Popes first offensive play from scrimmage.

Amsterdam Dragon's (2-7) at Passion Fruits (6-3) 7-57

The Fruit Stand squeezed the life out of the oddly punctuated Dragon's in this blowout win at home for Passion. This game included the league's first safety as Passion SS Anime Babe crushed Amsterdam's HB Marshawn "BeastMode" Lynch in the endzone on a quick pitch. The Fruits stud RB Jerome "Big Bus" McNasty rebounded this week after a disappointing performance in last week's game at iue5 and broke out for 236 yards on the ground and 6 TDs along with a catch for 16 yards. Two of his 6 scores came on plays of longer than 35 yards with multiple broken tackles as the Fruits rode their big back to victory.

Natural Born Killers (6-3) at Heidelberg Hitmen (3-6) 24-3

The Killers stormed into the Heidelberger Schloss on their way to a big win. Sparked by QB Hank Evans pass to stud wideout Rantavavious Wooten for a 70.5 yard TD midway through the second quarter, the Natural Born Killers never trailed in this game outgaining Hiedelberg more than 2 to 1. Killers CB Michael Phelps had an interception for the second consecutive week as the NBK defense proved to be far too much for the Hitmen to handle.

Warfield Hellbringers (4-5) at Nikopolis Stoic Hedonists (1-7) 48-13

The Hellbringers were very solid on the ground in this victory over the hapless Stoic Hedonists. Warfield is the only team to notch a defeat over the conference leading Black Death and have a favorable schedule for the next couple of weeks which could lead to a late playoff push. Hellbringers HB Sundance Kidd saw most of the goal line opportunities come his way and scored 3 TDs on 14 carries with 99 yards while his counterparts Neemoo cethens and Endzone Hungry each chipped in with scores of their own, none more impressive than cethens' 59.5 yard dash to paydirt.

I don't think it would have mattered even if you didn't fix it. I can't get my wideouts to stop dropping balls.

Great write up again Mere.
The OC and QB coach of Cambridge today was heading off some nasty press conferences with regard to his decision to go for it on 4th down and goal on the 5 rather than kick a field goal and for the piss poor way he prepared the QBs for this game which lead to 4 pickles being thrown. One reporter asked 'Did the QB's think they were playing for the Eagles V's the Ravens?'

Well played Iue5. The better team won.

I still think you guys are a damn good better team with a better staff than half the league and most don't give you credit it for it. Like I said, I wouldn't be too surprised if the Chieftains upset one of the top seeds.

Did any of you watch the Kobenhaven vs. Tilburg game? Tilburg went exclusively goalline defense, regardless of Kobenhaven's offensive formation. They should have scored 100. I'm looking forward to playing them tonight.

Also, I still had the scrimmage offensive settings in place for the Argonauts when we played Vatican City. 100% passing, even on 4th down. No FGs, no punts, no exceptions.

Awesome write-up Merenoise.
