We move from an interesting week of games to a week where we have quite a few blow outs lined up. The three close matchups we do have, will have a huge impact on playoff seeding, or even making the playoffs.
Game of the Week #1.....Looking in the mirror
Antarctica vs. Chillicothe:
Both of these teams will make the playoffs. Any hopes of hosting a home playoff game for these two teams, could be decided here. The winner won't be guaranteed to host at all, but the loser will more than likely be guaranteed a road playoff game. Big prize opportunity for the winner. The Convicts have owned this series winning 31-30 and 20-17 the last 2 times they met. These two teams are very evenly matched and it may just come down to who has the ball last. Nobody has really stopped the Convicts offense yet this year....the Seals will try next. I think the Seals finally get a win in a close game against a very good Convict team. Seals by 7.
Game of the Week #2.....Stop the bleeding
SAFS vs. USGD
Both of these teams are riding 2 game losing streaks after starting off 3-0 against weaker competition. This will be a big game to have in hand when it comes down to potential playoff seeding. I think these two teams will play a real close game throughout. I don't see either of these teams pulling away unless the turnovers really show up and tilt the field. I have to pick a winner though, and after looking at everything, I think the SAFS are going to have a little bit more trouble moving the ball than USGD. The Dynasty takes the game late by a FG.
Game of the Week #3.....Early Playoff game?
Tonga vs. Gold Coast
There are only 8 playoff spots to go around. The loser of this game may have a tough time getting in. Its early, but not too early to recognize the importance of this game for these teams. The Samaurai pulled out a nice win against the SAFS which automatically makes them the favorite in this game to me. Tonga hasn't beaten any team with remote aspirations for the playoffs. They need to start here or they can possibly start making vacation plans. I don't think the Terror can pull it off. Both teams have good depth, but I think the Gold Coast is a little better on both sides of the ball. This game will be close, but I think the Samaurai pull away to win by 2-3 TD's.
Minimal write up games:
Osaka vs. Drunk Fu
Buckeyes in a non-game.
Newcastle vs. Hattrick
Not enough in Hattrick's arsenal to slow down the Minotaurs. Mino's win easy.
Vanuatu vs. Sydney
Another non-game as Vanuatu wins easily.
Wake Island vs. Cairns
Destroyers get back in the winning column in a big way over the fire.
Tuvalu vs. Penrith
Matadors lock this game away early. Tuvalu by lots.
