Movement from previous week in (_)
1. Cold Lake Wolverines 4-0 (-)
Comfortable victory over the previously unbeaten Juggernauts. Only surprise was the 3rd rated defense conceded 24 points but it wasn’t enough to move them from the top spot.
2. Vinland Vikings 4-0 (-)
Similar result to the Wolverines as they beat the previously unbeaten Smokers while conceding 24 points. Didn’t gain or lose any ground on the Wolverines. They will have a chance to steal top spot at least temporarily with games against no.5 Thunder and no.4 Revolution over the next 2 weeks.
3. Saskatchewan Sasquatches 3-1 (-)
Should continue to pick up wins in the next 4 weeks but will need to stay sharp to avoid an upset before they get a chance to move up the rankings with the week 9 trip to the no.1 Wolverines.
4. Revelstoke Revolution 3-1 (-)
Still don’t appear to be firing on all cylinders but they took car of business against the Pimps and move on to face another challenge with the visit of the Toronto Smoke in week 5. Need to win by a decent margin to hold off the no.5 Thunder in next week’s rankings.
5. Calgary Thunder 4-0 (-)
Comfortable win against the Smoke sets them up with a chance of taking back the 4th spot but they can’t overlook the Smokers or they will let the chance slip through their hands.
6. New Orleans Ghost Riders 3-1 (+1)
Solid if not spectacular victory over the Outlaws moves the Ghost Riders up 1 spot this week courtesy of other teams losing.
7. Greenland Smokers 3-1 (-1)
Tough loss to the Vikings but they were not embarrassed in defeat. They continue to impress and look like a playoff team at this early stage. They might go 1 and done in the playoffs but reaching the playoffs will be an achievement in a tough conference.
8. Northside Juggernauts 3-1 (-)
They are who we thought they are. A well put together team who will only struggle against the elite of the division. Similar to the Smokers they will be fighting for a playoff spot come the end of the season and like the Smokers I would expect to see them 1 and done.
9. Mont-Joli Mooseknuckles 2-2 (+1)
Impressive victory moves the Moosknuckles up 1 spot for the 2nd week running and keeps them in touch with other playoff contenders. Huge matchup with the no.10 Pimps this week will go a long way to help determine whether this team will remain in the playoff hunt or be destined to finish the season as an also ran.
10. In San Jose Pimpin Aint Easy 0-4 (-1)
Again lost another hard fought game. If they don’t stop the rot this week against the no.9 Moosknuckles the season could slip away from them before the half way stage which would be a disaster for a team with playoff aspirations.
11. Moose Head Thundering Herd 2-2 (+1)
Defeated the CPU Shredders like they were expected too. They move up 1 spot mainly due to their record where they hold a 2 game lead over all the teams below them. Are poised to make a run at the playoffs but face a tough stretch of games over the next 3 weeks and with their chemistry still dangerously low will find it hard to overcome the odds stacked against them.
12. Toronto Smoke 0-4 (-1)
Another winless team that I expected to see more out of this season. Chemistry is also a factor and if they don’t recover quickly they are destined to finish the season in the cellar. Things don’t get any easier this week with a tough matchup with the no. 4 Revolution.
13. Kelowna Outlaws 0-4 (-)
Put in a better showing this week in defeat but the games aren’t getting any easier with the no.3 Sasquatches visiting in week 4.
14. Blood Bowl 0-4 (-)
Another poor showing keeps the Blood Bowl in the no.14 spot. Chance of their 1st victory against the no.16 Hibernators in week 4..
15. Saskatoon Shredders 2-2 (-)
They will remain in this spot until they lose to the Hibernators or the Hibernators pull out a shock win against another team.
16. Thunder Bay Hibernators 0-4(-)
Still entrenched at the bottom after another defeat in week 3 despite unleashing their secret weapon of trying to kick a FG from 100 yards thereby preventing all the KR TDs that they were giving up. Will have their 2nd best chance at a victory with the visit of the no.14 Blood Bowl.
