As always, I wont predict my own team's game.
Hope its a good read. Feel free to comment
Lion:
African Fire at White Nile Piranha
AF is 1 of 5 teams in LION who has won both their first games. After an expected knock out of a Headshrinkers team currently rebuilding, they defeated the Bushmen 70-55 in a veritable slug fest. With 164 total pts scored in the first 2 games, the offense is looking as sharp as ever. The D leaves something to desire tho, and allowing 55 pts isnt acceptable, no matter the opponent. The Piranha have lost both their first 2 games, the latter in a hard fought 31-35 defeat at the hands of the Scottish Sharks. They are the only promoted team currently 0-2, and need to start converting the close losses into some wins. If AF have got their defensive players sober, this should be a solid victory for them. If not, we could have a very close games on our hands here.
AF wins 42-17
Warriors of Anubis at Katanga Diamonds
WoA beat up on the defenseless Rhinos in week 1, but ran into a beating of their own against RSW last week. This week they face another of the top caliber teams, as they travel to Marianne Stadium to face the Diamonds of Katanga. Katanga have had a good start to the season with a win against the newcomers from Swaziland, and last week a close win against Cape Verde. The Cape Verde game can prove to be very deciding later on when play-off seeds are counted up, and the players are full of confidence. They go into this game as favorites, but they will have to keep their offense productive, as WoA has put a total of 92 pts on the board in their first 2 games.
Katanga wins 37-27
Cape Verde Headhunters at Band of BrothersGAME OF THE WEEK
For the second week in a row Cape Verde is featured in the GOTW. They won 34-21 against the top projected EEORG in week 1, but Katanga returned the favor last week, pulling off a 34-31 victory of their own. They have shown one of the most solid set of performances against a tough pair of opponents, and at this time have to be counted as one of the hottest teams for a top-4 placement. This week they travel to Libya to square off against the Band of Brothers, another team who have come of to a good start. Last week gave a much expected win against the sub par Mushrooms, and BoB will have to play in a much bigger gear if they want to keep up with the Headhunters. No real favorite here, and that always makes promises of an intense, hard fought game. Don't miss out on this!
Cape Verde sneaks in a FG in the dying seconds to claim a 37-34 win
Ethiopia Executioners at Freetown Palookas
Ethiopia disappointed last week with a blow out loss against the promoters from Kilimanjaro, while their opponents from Freetown, also a promoter, beat up on the Blue Jays in a solid 66-28 victory. Palookas has to be big favorited in this game, as the Executioners cant seem to do anything right atm. Doubt this game will be interesting for many besides Freetown's home crowd, so dont waste precious hard disk space recording it!
Palookas win 61-27
Scottish Sharks at Burundi Hutu
The Sharks started out the season with a humiliating 21-61 loss against the new kids from Dakar, but got things going in the right direction with a close 35-31 win against another new face, White Nile, last week. They haven't impressed so far, and need to step up their game if they want to have a chance against the sneaky Hutu team. Burundi started out clobbering the poor Trojans, by far the weakest team in the league presently. That said, putting up 355 pts is quite a feat, and have put many of their players in solid lead positions on the leader boards. They got down to earth last week tho, as they ran into a 10-31 defeat against PHP. They are favorites in this game tho, and want to get winning again asap so they will have filled up on confidence before the tough week 4 match against AF.
Burundi wins 43-20
Atlantic Blue Jays at Malagasy Bushmen
The Blue Jays was one of the teams fortunate enough to draw a 100% win opponent in the inter conference games of week 1, a big help to any serious team. They beat the wildebeest with no problems, but then ran in to a big defeat against Freetown in week 2. The Bushmen have played 2 tough opponents and lost both, most recently against AF in a game where the D's on both side struggled. This game will come down to tactics, as the coaching staff improving the most from last week will have a huge advantage. This will be my Pick 'Em of the week
Pick 'em
Kilimanjaro Kamikaze at Rhein Main Magic Mushrooms
Not much to say here. Rhein Main is a veritable cup cake team, and it will be surprising if they get more than 2 wins this year with their current form. Kilimanjaro impressed with a big win against Ethiopia last week, and anything but another big win will be a surprise.
Kilimanjaro wins 67-14
Elephant:
Cairo Crocodiles at Dakar DragonsBIG GAME
Even tho the able doesn't mean much as this point, it would be silly to have a #1 vs #2 game and not have any mention of it. Dakar are currently in 1st following their game against the cup cake Trinidad team. Dakar has proven the ability to beat other than weak teams tho, as the Sharks learned in week 1. The Dragons have made some, but not many off season roster upg's, and look to have strengthened the right positions as they are looking stronger than ever. The Cairo Crocs will be a very different game for the Dragons tho, as the Crocs represent some of the very finest talent this league has to offer. With 2 solid performances, they have already taken the lead amongst the predetermined favorites, and this looks to possibly be the year of the Crocodile. Even tho Dakar is a very talented team, Cairo has to win these games if they want to claim the throne of the Elephant conference this year. Cant be any question as to who takes the favorite role, but if not on their toes, Dakar could get a little too close for comfort.
Cairo wins 43-24
Zanzibar Leopards at Zimbabwe Black Rhinos
Lol game of the week. Zanzibar is a clear favorite against a incomplete Rhinos team who looks to be amongst the bottom feeders this year.
Leopards win 90-0
Rwanda Assassins at Richmond Raiders
This should be a good game, with a strong Richmond squad facing off against a team of Assassins out to get things back on track following their 48-56 loss against the Cannibals of Cairo. Richmond has stomped all competition so far, and Rwanda are in for some tough love today. They beat another of the promoters, Freetown, but Richmond isnt anything close to the team that promoted , so that label doesnt really fit when looking at things. Richmond are favorites, and should be able to take the win without too much excitement at he end.
Richmond wins 54-31
Lake M'Zumba Cannibals at Cairo CannibalsGAME OF THE WEEK
This should be a feat, literally. Who can say no to some Cannibal on Cannibal action? Not me! This is the game to prove who deserves to carry the name of Cannibals, as the looser will forever be known as the Vegans. Both teams come off of big victory's, with Lake M beating EEORG and Cairo defeating Rwanda, so both teams have proven their worth so far. Now they have to continue the good showing, a task that might be easier said than done. Lake M has to be favorites following their impressive showing against a very strong EEORG team, but Cairo wont go down easy, and they have the squad and coaches to pull of the surprise.
Lake M wins 54-38
Swaziland Semnikati at Real Men of GeniusGRUDGE MATCH
This is an interesting game for many reasons, but 1 reason stands above all. This was the 2 teams battling for the Elephant throne in A#! last year. #! and #" in the regular season respectively, and opponents in the conference final aswell, this is a young match up with a lot of history to it already. Both games last year was won by RMoG in hard fought defensive battles, where they only allowed 3 pts by the Semnikati each game. RMoG has made some roster improvements while Swaziland has kept the same exact roster, so on paper RMoG shouldn't have problems winning this. Much have changed since season 5 tho, and it will be interesting to follow this game unfold. Good luck to both teams.
Pick 'Em
Cape Town Shinobis at EEORG Bastards
EEORG bastards are big favorites, and need this win to get things going. Before the season they proclaimed a sure 20-0 season, but the first 2 games of the year has seen 2 losses, and the home crowd are starting to get annoyed. This is a perfect game to turn things around for them, as Cape Town hasn't looked impressive at all during the first weeks of the season. Semi cup cake team at this time of the season it seems, so EEORG almost cant loose.
Bastards win 67-10
Casablanca White Houses at Sierra Leone Head Shrinkers
The chance of one, let alone both, of these teams making the play-offs seem slim to non with the latest performances in mind. Therefore this game should have little relevance for the top of the table, but in case of a #7 or #8 seed opening up, this the tie-breaker a win here would give could prove deciding
Casablanca wins 100-0(or something..)
