I have been in this league since the beginning but I don't know a lot of the new teams. Just figured I would take a shot at this since no one else did. Also, no one should take any of these predictions or scores as a slight to them or their team. We don't know how good anyone is at this point in the season. As time goes on these will be much easier to do, or so you would hope.
I feel like I am throwing Darts in the dark, but here it is anyway:
USAORG Exiles vs. Columbus Buckeyes
The Exiles are coming into this game after a huge loss against the Bastards of the West, and the Buckeyes are coming into this game after a blowout win over what some considered a playoff team out of the West. It's interesting because these two teams look a lot like each other on the "Matchup Comparison" page.
I expect that the Buckeyes will try and move the ball on the ground like they did in their last game. They had 2 rushers over 100 yards, and another that came up less than 9 yards short of 100. The Exiles have to stop the run to have a chance in this game. They will have to do better in the run game to have a chance in this game, and their chances don't look very good considering the Buckeyes gave up .8 ypc in their last game.
Although the matchups look even I am going to go with the Columbus Buckeyes and big: Columbus 49-17
Home Town Shockers vs. Louisville Nighthawks
The Shockers have a lot of holdovers from the Care Bears. A team that had a nice run in the early part of the CCC and USA A #1 league. The Nighthawks come into this game having won their last game by 90 points. The Shockers come into this game having lost by 80. Those scores alone should tell you to look out on this one.
The teams aren't that far apart on paper, and I can't really figure out what has happened to the old Care Bears and their players. I don't really see this game being all that close. A piece of advice for the Shockers would be to have their QB close his profile. That can't help. I don't think that is the reason they only gained 67 total yards though.
I am going to have to go with the Nighthawks in this one. I do think it will be closer than the game the Shocker played against the Heat. Louisville 56-13
Space Coast Storm Surge vs. Megatropolis Tigers
Space Coast has really built the team up in less than a season. They deserve a lot of credit for building a competitive team. They had nothing left from the former Steel-Heads. The Storm Surge come into this game licking their wounds from a tough loss to the Longhorns, but I don't think that game is a trend. The Tigers come into this game wondering how good they really are, and this game will go a long way in telling them how competitive they will be in this league.
It's hard to take anything away from either teams last game. I would actually give a slight edge to Space Coast from their matchups, and look for this to be a close game. I am going to go with the Storm Surge in this one. Space Coast 34-31
Colorado Storm vs. Bristol Bullets
The Storm is another team that has been around in this league for awhile. The Bullets really impressed me last season. The Storm seem to really be rebuilding this year, and the Bullets are coming into this game rolling. Maybe riding a little of the momentum from last season, and the good start to this one. Can you say that after only 1 game?
I think the Bullets are going to be a tough out in the East this year, and expect them to add another W tonight.
Bristol 77-10
Miami Sharks vs. Oregon Ducks
This is probably one of the better matchups of this week. The Ducks have been around for a couple seasons now, and bring really good gameplanning into every game they play. I really like the Sharks roster, and look for them to make a mark this year in the East. I don't know a lot about them, but they look good on paper.
This one should be interesting to watch. I am going to stick with the team I know in a close one. Ducks 35-34
Compton 'nilla Wafers vs. TCC's Wax-Bustin Warriors
Compton is another team that has been in this league with us since the beginning. We have had our share of competitive games with these guys in the past. TCC's team looks really good, and could make some noise in the East. They didn't make the Bears look to good in their first game.
Compton has a big offensive line, and if they get rolling can do some good things. However, I am going to take the unknown to me in this game and go with TCC's Wax-Bustin Warriors. TCC's Wax-Bustin Warriors 49-28
Eleven Wise Monkeys vs. Seattle Reign
Eleven Wise has to be considered the class of the East, and especially when you take into account last year. I actually expected these guys to be gone, but maybe that was wishful thinking. Seattle went toe to toe with a good Spartans team, and they could look to make a huge statement tonight.
They used a balance attack to hang with the Spartans, and put up over 430 yards in their loss. However, they gave up 270+ yards on the ground and a 7.4 ypc. That isn't the best stat to know when you have a team that just ran for 400+ yards and had an 11+ ypc average.
I think the Monkeys win this one going away. Eleven Wise 49-17
