Cambridge Chieftains vs. Manchester Divided 31-17

The Chieftains jumped all over the boys from Manchester with 24 unanswered points to start the game. Manchester did manage to make a game of it in the second half with 3 consecutive scores but was unable to close the gap as Cambridge wins the season opener.

Torpedo Cowthorpe vs. Phi Kappa Leesburg 105-7

What happens when a Pop Warner team takes on a high school team full of steroid popping seniors? The Cowthorpe easily dispatched the Phi Kappas with the only real question that the game raised being how the hell did Leesburg score even once?

October Wildfire vs. Nikopolis Stoic Hedonists 17-44

The month of November started off poorly for the Wildfire of October. The Hedonists completed 20 passes on their way to a big margin of victory capped off by two huge special teams touchdowns.

Starcraft DarK Archons vs. Warfield Hellbringers 21-56

The Hellbringers rolled to an easy victory as they tore apart the offensive line of the Dark Archons. Warfield DE Phill Graves was a force to be reckoned with as he pulled down the QB 3 times.

Ingolstadt Hat Tossers vs. London Rippers 28-24

The fans at the Haberdashery at Klenze Park were treated to a great last second comeback as the Hat Tossers scored on a late rushing TD after a late interception that turned certain defeat into a great win.

Borum Hill Treble vs. Tilburg Dream 14-21

The Dream were able to dominate the Treble on the ground on their way to their first win of the season. All of the Tilburg backs were effective racking up over 240 yards on the ground and the defense was competent enough to hold off Borum Hill in a game that wasn't as close as the score suggests.

Amsterdam Chronic Crusaders vs. København Hühnerfalken 31-27

If any week 1 game could be considered an upset this was it. The highly touted Hühnerfalken lost despite intercepting the Crusaders twice and posting over 425 offensive yards. The game was over when Darnell Thomas picked off København for the second time.

Natural Born Killers vs. Salzburg Hornets 34-24

The Killers made the fans at Mass Murderer Memorial Stadium happy with a week 1 win against a tough Salzburg team which refused to lay down. Manuel Snoriega's 49 INT return for a TD in the first half was the turning point and the Hornets never recovered the lead.

Brugge Touch vs. Lisbon Crusaders 17-14

In a week with many late scoring drives to win the game the Touch took it to the very end of the game when a 34 yd field goal attempted by Melvin Smith flew through the uprights with just 3 seconds on the clock.

Liverpool Legend Killers vs. East Cairo Argonauts 37-27

Legend Killer Park was hopping with excited fans as the Argonauts drop a game to Liverpool. The Legend Killers jumped out to a 20 point lead and all the heroics East Cairo pulled out were for naught as the deficit was too large to overcome.

Heidelberg Hitmen vs. Italian Stallions 13-34

The Hitmen could have taken some lessons in taking your man down from the Stallions in this game which was all Italy in the second half. The Stallions dominated late with 27 unanswered points in the final 30:30 of the game.

The Evil Empire vs. Vatican City Fighting Popes 17-0

This week's only shutout came at the expense of the Fighting Popes as the Evil Empire foiled them on offense all game long. The Evil Empire was unforgiving all game long holding Vatican City to only 126 total yards.

Philadelphia Ground and Pound vs. Red River Ruminants 52-3

The Ruminants were buried at the Graveyard as the Ground and Pound rode roughshod over them in an ugly blowout. Philadelphia managed an impressive 545 total yards despite having several players named after the ineffectual Dallas Cowboys.

Passion Fruits vs. Matterhorn Marmots 95-7

Complete domination by the Passion Fruits facing an overwhelmed Marmots team that was held to -4 rushing yards. The good news for the Marmots is that they aren't the worst team in Zeta. The bad news is the worst team in Zeta is a slow build team and Matterhorn is not.

iue5 acolytes vs. Prague Defenestrators 30-16

The acolytes won this sloppy game in the Defenestration Zone despite throwing 4 interceptions. LB Dark Helmet was dominant racking up 13 tackles, a forced fumble and a pass defense.

Reykjavík Polar Bears vs. Stockholm Black Death 7-71

Stockholm was all over the Polar Bears in this game forcing 14 punts and torching Reykjavík for 6 scores through the air. WRs Big Catching Dog and White Lightning Bug each caught 2 TDs on their way to the rout.

Overall went pretty much as I expected with Alpha winning 11 games and the cream of the Zeta crop taking the other 5. Friday's games will begin intra-league play where great stories are guaranteed to be written.
