Warrior General Games

I initially thought this league had been balanced out pretty well in comparison to last year. Still some stronger teams and weaker teams, but a lot closer than last year.

After looking at the scores from week 1, I must have had my head up my arse. Nothing to do about it, but it still looks like there might be a clear line of demarcation.

Wonder if it is any more even in other leagues or if this is about as even as you can get?

League balance made things closer for Pro and AAA, in my opinion. Nothing's really changed for the rest.

Check out AAA#2, both Alpha and Zeta (besides a few gutted teams in each division that didn't get changed around in time) are 1-14 pretty darned balanced. It's going to be a crap-shoot who's gonna end up winning it all up here. If you can get outta this league this season, you guys will face some STIFF competition like we've never seen down here in AA#3.

That is 8 teams from one league. Oceania A 6 still has 3 teams down there that could come up here and make the playoffs.

Damn sorry about that New Zealand!

Things will even out as teams progress with gameplanning and such.

Some teams ran gimmick offenses and defenses last year to take advantage of bugs. That is how they won and now they are scrambling. Other teams played football logic and ignored the bugs and just set up sound game plans...those are the teams that will keep winning.

GLB is always evolving and there are smart players who build solid players and teams that are Bort proof...and then there are players that build lame builds(all speed WR , all strength offensive lineman and all speed DE) and lame gameplans(all strong off tackle run teams, 3-4 weak blitz etc). Those are the people now whining as their once invincible teams/players and now garbage.

Just think of all the fixes over the past seasons...some of them destroyed the lame teams but the ones that built with smart football logic and still rolling along.

Look in the forums if you need proof:
-Super vision(CB doesn't have agility and gets toasted)
-Speed WR(No agility or catching..player drops passes now)
-Wrap up tackling(Power backs now abuse weak LBs)
-Speed rush(DE get bulldozed into the ground)
-All stregnth Offensive lineman getting abused by agile DE
-Head fake..destroyed alot of HBs that once dominated
-Added offensive tactics so defenses have to defend more than 1 play from each formation
-Added blocking so now teams that relied on pass rush with marginal CBs are getting torched..this is the newest one..look for 'pass coverage bugs' in the main forum.

I could go on and on but these are of the top of my head.

These threads always make me laugh when I see them because the person who built them used a bug one time or another to make his player better than he was and now has to scramble or retire.

I agree. Good teams based on good builds, and not gimmicks or sploitz will generally be successful each season.
Of course each position may have certain attributes that are more important than others, but you need to raise the other ones too, because it makes sense to do so.
What is speed without agility? Strength without blocking, catching without jumping, etc... Bort is never going to change things up so kicking is an important attribute for LB's, so if you just build your guy based off of what makes sense then your player will be fine.
Of course good agents and owners make a huge difference too.

My favorite was the old backs with no carrying...bort kicks in a fix and they fumble a million times and then the best part...they whine in the forums about it.

Geez really? A back that has no carrying skill fumbles?

This is just an example for what this season will look like...you have some teams way ahead because of how they played the game the last few seasons and then you have those way behind that will whine because they way they abused the bugs in the past doesn't work anymore.

Don't really know why they didn't demote us last season with the new league balance, even when I requested for it too. Saw a ton of A teams that we can't even match up against still playing there.

Your team is not that bad and you would be a top 3 team if demoted...

We won't be a top 3 team if demoted, but we'll be more competitive though....

i think that is how it is going to be for a while, maybe permanently. right now everyone is still relatively new so it may change. but the lower levels are for growing. and everyone has different agendas. some want to build and recruit to get good asap. some teams are like our team, skidmarks. we are not going to recruit as much. instead we will build a little slower with the same guys since most of us know each other.

eventually, (after seasons 12 to 15), the teams that want competition are all going to be in the higher leagues and the real deal will be staying there by replacing talent when old talent slows down or retires.

i think the days of multiple GM'ing may be gone soon for a lot of us. at least me. i have 3 i help with and i am spread 40%, 40%, 20% or what is becoming less and less time because of the economy.
