Those in the 6 will remember these, they are back after a hiatus due to the strong lack of parity in the league. While the competitive balance isn't perfect, I think we can bring these out and dust them off for yet another season. If you've never seen these rankings before...
What the f*ck are these?
These are spreadsheet generated power rankings. They are 100% stat and record based, so what you do on the field compared to the rest of the league determines where you get ranked.
What kind of stats are you using?
I split the stats into 3 different categories:
* Offense
* Defense
* Special Teams
Each category gets a weight, and the stats within get weight. Some of the stats include, but are not limited to:
* Points for/allowed
* Yardage gained/allowed
* Team Record
Among others. Everything is weighted and added together to get a number that creates your ranking.
But I beat team xxx, why are they rated higher?
The head to head paradox has been addressed repeatedly every season. It doesn't matter, it won't change my rankings, it's meaningless, so go eat a bag of dicks if you don't like it.
Will you give me the formula?
Probably not, as I may choose to tweak it based on competitive balance, but I have not ruled out a protected worksheet that would allow teams around GLB to use this to create rankings.
Can we have the rankings already?
You're one impatient bastard, aren't you? Fine, I'll post them if you shut up. The number to the left is the team's ranking in the league. The number in parentheses (#-#) is the team's record. The number listed after that is the power ranking number, usually ranging from -10 to 10, but there is some variance when one team vastly overpowers the other, such as the case involving gutted teams.
