Well now that my recruiting efforts should be done it's time to stack up things in Zeta. We've had some significant owner turnover on this side of the house so at this point it could be anyone's ball game. Let's run down the rankings and as usual I look forward to your insightful comments. The powers that be in this conference are now very much less power running teams of last year and the aerial attack is in.
Three's Company
1. Hollywood Knights(12-4)
Have some issues with depth right now, but their core group of players remains intact, if they can fill out their roster they will be number one until someone knocks them off their perch. They are still lead offensivly by their nasty WR trio of Speedy Hands, Samardzjia, and the greatest of all time.
2. Warsaw Wolves(12-4)
We've made some pretty significant upgrades on the defensive side of the ball and re-loaded our offense as well. 3 Points short of Hollywood in last years regular season thriller, but until we beat Hollywood I'll let them hold the top spot. Snagging the Draftniks defensive MVP(Sam Elby) though to play LB was a huge addition, as well as upgrades to the secondary and DT position. Not to mention a new kicker.
3. Misc Manlets(9-7)
After last season playoff upset of the Draftniks they looked strong, they too have made some upgrades to their team but their perennial starting depth issues may come to light on them particularly if they draw quality opponenets early. Forum recruiting team though so you know they will have it together end of season.
The middle of the Pack(for now)
4. Iberian Bocs(9-7)
Pretty solid all around team last seasons Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hide has also made some upgrades while keeping their core players intact. Could be a dangerous team and has a shot at being a title contender. Johnny Amazing returns to carry the rock, but have they made the right acquisitions on defense?
5. Hague Pirates(9-7)
The team you never want to go to sleep on, simply too dangerous and dependable. The anti-Bocs if you will, lose the turnover battle against these guys and they will eat you up. They remain solid in the trenches lead by Fortress Maximus and look to move into the elite. Could very easily move into the next tear.
A step down
6. Milano Mamertini(7-9)
No team finished the season hotter than the Mamertini who brought back their core as well including Welcome to the Show in the backfield behind their very impressive line. Still have some recruiting word to do but could bring it together with some quality signings, early in the season.
7. Vienne Vikings(7-9)
Tempted to rate them higher but they are in the hole financially at the moment which means Milanese will have to do quite well on concessions to afford his roster. That being said they certainly have to be considered a strong post-season favorite this season in their second year.
8. Pamplona Bulls(4-12)
Still have some great starters, still need alot of depth but they have the cash to get it done. They have set themeselves up well and are another team with a huge upside. One season following relegation and they look to be solidly in the playoff mix in Zeta.
Coming Apart
9. Chuck Norris(8-8)
I dont want to underestimate them because of their long term ownership and steady performance but their roster is falling apart and new replacements are no where in sight. Still no doubts about their ability to air it out so they could move back up easily with some key additions.
Relegations Sensation?
10. Glasgow Manglers(1-15){AA}
Have the building blocks in place to rapidly improve and could challenge for post-season glory following relegation but then again the Bulls looked like that last year and still needed at least one season to find their bearings. Should be fun to watch them as they continue to piece together a new roster with some good pieces already in place.
Looking to improve
11. Luxemborg Sidewinders(1-15)
Will be hounded by chemistry issues this whole season but they certainly appear quite dangerous for the future not sure what happened to their slow build plans but their plans to steadily improve appear on pace.
12. Luxemborg Tigers(2-14)
Made some upgrades but appear at least a season away from serious playoff competition. Also will have huge chemistry issues but the offense appears dangerous.
13. Constantinople Knights(3-13)
Ok on offense - yikes on defense. Slowly adding quality players apparently but not yet ready to win. Although Meat Jakowski looks like a quality anchor for what should be a good O-line.
14. Athens Minotarus(0-16)
Will they win a game this year? Sure they should but their lineup doesnt scare even the other bottom teams so no telling if they can put together a complete squad in time to replace all those nasty CPU players. Better than last season but still.....yeah not good enough.
15. WalterFootball Draftniks(13-3)
Yeah soon to be renamed as one of the flagship franchises just gave way - very sad to see but we wish Scar the best and know these quality players will land on their feet.
16. Roman Gladiators(9-7)
I put these guys below the Draftniks who have no players and no owner because it's been 2 days and ownership has signed how many players ....oh yeah O. It's late in the game to try filling out a big roster.....prepare to give Athens an victory.
