Ok guys I know we've had this conversation a bit before but I wanted to officially make a poll and see who everyone thinks it is.

Wow...

Jim Brown has 1 vote - and I voted for him.

You guys are looking at stats and listening to other people. Most of you are probably too young to even know who Jim Brown is. That's funny.

I have lived in the Detroit Area my entire life, and I saw Barry Sanders play live for 10 years here - he was a damn good running back. But Jim Brown was the best.

That aside, how is it that Emmit 'I had the best O-Line ever' Smith made your list, but Gale Sayers didn't?

I voted for Payton.

I believe he is the most complete back to ever play the game. Walter could run, catch, throw, and pass block with great skill.

Edit - Sayers does need to be on the list. He made the Hall in a 7 year career.

Cheat is correct. He had a great short career but that's why he's not on the list. Emmitt may have had the best O-Line but he also did a lot of things like playing with a hurt shoulder and others. Give him his respect. I know we all like to hate all the cowboys. But Emmitt deserves his credit.

I am going to make another poll in a bit that will be the best career shortened RB's including Gale Sayers, Terrell Davis and Bo Jackson. I think that's a TOUGH debate between the 3. My pick is Bo. But hell I'm biased! Any others I should add to that list?

Marshall Faulk probably should have made the list. I don't know why I didn't put him on there but it's too late now!.

Bo Jackson is probably a top 5 best athlete period of all time - and it's a damn shame what happened to him.

If he plays a full career, there is no debate imo

Sometime while you guys are bored, flip on NFL Network or ESPN Classic when they are talking to Hall of Famers who played in the past. ALL of them have a Jim Brown story.

I voted for LaDainian Tomlinson on potential, but Barry Sanders is the best ever right now.

Lawrence Phillips had as much potential as any of the guys listed ... complete beast turned into a complete headcase. I believe he's in jail for attempting to run someone over in his car.

Even after the legal problems at Nebraska, he was still picked #4 overall in the draft if I recall.

Jim Brown was great and by far my second choice. I said Barry because I just can't stop watching his replays. It is close imo though.

To be the best you have to win at least one championship. It's just the way it is.

Bills Homer!

OJ has no right to make the list. He was good. But not as good as the rest. And the off field antics and BS way he got off will always put him in a pit as far as I'm concerned.

I would have rather you said Thurman Thomas. That guy was great. He is one of my favs. I just couldn't see putting him on the list tho.
