#6 Thailand Cheap Toys vs. #2 Singapore Flames
Regular season matchup – Week 12
After Thailand got a field goal on the game’s opening possession, Singapore answered as Flick Wrist connected with Goto Guy for a 40 yard scoring strike. The Toys took a 10-7 lead early in the 2nd quarter on a short Borja Segura run, but the Flames got a 59 yard interception return from OG KUSH late in the 1st half to take a 14-10 lead into halftime. Singapore then took control of the battle with an 8 minute 3rd quarter drive resulting in a 1 yard plunge by Sammy Dillon and a two touchdown lead. Two 4th quarter turnovers kept the Toys at bay as Singapore got the 24-10 win.
Thailand Cheap Toys 13-4
1st round playoff game
A 36 yd field goal by Brian Dropkick with 1:08 left in the game delivered Thailand the 20-17 win, their 2nd win over the Rush this season. The game seesawed back and forth as the teams matched scores all game long. San Fran hit the Toys early when the 3rd play from scrimmage was a pick by Brandon Slayer, giving the Rush the ball deep in Toys territory. Three plays later, Chazz Michael Michaels hooked up with Michael Fowler for the 7-0 Addiction lead. Thailand answered with a 9 play drive following the kickoff, ending with 5 yard pass from Allan Czervik to Hal Hunter for a 7-7 score. Late in the first, the Rush retook the lead on Chazz Michael Michaels’ 2nd TD pass to Michael Fowler. The Toys would get a 2nd quarter field goal but trailed 14-10 at the half. San Fran quickly moved into Thailand territory with the opening 2nd half drive, but Daryll Lee Cullum came up with a key interception. Thailand then went on an 86 yard, 8 minute drive to take the lead back on a 1 yard Hal Hunter run. The Rush got a 31 yard field goal to tie the score as the 3rd quarter neared its conclusion. With neither team threatened in the 4th quarter until Thailand got the ball with 4:21 remaining. From their 20 yard line, the Toys offense moved into field goal position with a 13 play drive that included two big 3rd down pass conversions by QB Allan Czervik, setting up the Dropkick game winner.
-----------
Singapore Flames 15-2
1st round playoff game
The Flames jumped out to a 27-0 halftime lead against the Garut Fire Horses, moving the ball almost at will. On the other side of the ball, after 4 three & outs and an interception, the Horses got their first first down of the game with 27 seconds to go in the half. A fourth quarter TD pass was much too little, much too late for Garut. Leikneih Ecstasy was 5 for 5 in field goals, including a 52 yarder early in the 4th quarter. Singpore’s balanced attacked total 428 yards for the game – 230 on the ground & 198 through the air. HB Tank Gore had 157 of the rushing yards and the QB tandem of Jonny Cannonshow and Flick Wrist completed 23 of 32 passes.
------------
Prediction:
The key to the game will be for the Toys to avoid the turnovers that cost them dearly in their regular season matchup. If they can, the Flames red zone problems in their first round playoff game had better be solved. I see the Flames having to settle for field goals too often in this one and with the game on the line in the 4th quarter, they fail to punch it into the endzone when they must. Toys 24 Flames 20.
