Zeta had the more favorable matchups according to the power rankings:

#31 Los Cabolo Sharks vs. #14 Illesheim Krauts 10-91
#9 Alice Springs Fire vs. #2 Tonga Thunderbirds 10-59
#22 Newcastle Surfers vs. #32 Brisbane Brown Bears 126-0
#28 South Australian Serial Killers vs. #12 Dunedin Wolverines 13-77
#17 Darwin Mud Crabs vs. #19 Tasmania Devils 23-7
#13 Thatto Heath Teeth Smashers! vs. #3 Christchurch Knightmares 17-38
#1 Sydney Sea Dragons vs. #21 Uluru Rockies 62-9
#29 New Age Steel Curtain vs. #23 Coney Island Warriors 9-26
#4 Chinese Bandits vs. #25 Vanuatu Gunslingers 66-35
#26 Tasmania Sand Gnats vs. #6 Ohio Valley Ironmen 13-95
#5 El Fuego vs. #11 Tasmanian Devils 48-20
#18 Mauna Kea Chenabogs vs. #30 Williamsport Soul Reavers 31-6
#7 The Four Horsemen vs. #16 The Throwback Cowboy's 35-20
#20 Redscape Diplomats vs. #27 Manilla Gorillaz 42-13
#10 Palau Pimp Smackers vs. #24 Cimmerian Barbarians 63-0
#8 Solomon Islands Alchemy vs. #15 Easter Island Moai 22-24

As a matter of fact, the Moai scored the only upset. It should have been 10 - 6 for Zeta.

It can be argued that Zeta has had the luck of the draw every year.

I agree that Zeta OVERALL has the stronger conference...Zeta's average power rank is 16, Alpha's is 17...but it is VERY close.

Much closer this year than in years past, I have to agree.
And this year's conference title game should be a beauty: closer than Season 3 and Season 4, I think.

We was robbed. We coulda been contenders. We coulda been somebody.

Damn it, Alchemy, we got standards in Zeta! Pffft, hot-shot promoted teams!

Haha, just kidding. You guys are going to be great soon enough. I'm glad we're not seeing you guys in the 1st round, that's for sure.

Bah, no worries. We'll cough up another turnover for a score or three, maybe miss a field goal, drop a few passes. You know, make it look like we are good but got all the bad breaks so the favorite can win.

Haha, sounds like what we dealt with against Bikini Atoll for two seasons!

I was quite proud of what Uluru did against the no.1 seeds.

We tried to knock the stuffing out them to help out tonga

It didn't work.

Haha, I certainly appreciate the effort. Sydney's a beastly team though, and I hope to have a shot at them in 4 weeks. But let's not get too hasty.

I do have a question. Say theoretically, Sydney and Tonga make the AA#2 Championship Game. Both teams are 19-0. Who hosts this game?

In the interest of being fair, Darwin would offer to host the game so no team got an undeserved advantage

And that's the beauty of it all. The team that hosts an equal record Championship game is the team the game determines comes from the better conference ... as per the results of Week 16!

I think Tonga has to be the clear favorites for the championship at this point.
