Especially after one of our biggest victories ever as a team over one of the most feared and respected squads in the league....well our season 1 playoff win over the undefeated Vampires was pretty big too as was our 1st win over the Gods. But this win is up there with the best of them
This will be the last season for the Rawle Tech Titans as a team.
We've been tossing it around since the playoffs ended last year and after a very tiring and trying offseason I decided I have had enough. This is probably one of the major reasons we are having such an off year. My heart just isn't in it anymore.
There are many reasons for this decision and I won't get into all of them. The major ones are the never ending influx of superteams and merged teams and our inability to compete with that for a championship, and the constant Bortifications which make us overhaul our gameplans year after year.
Maybe I have hit the wall as an owner and D- Coordinator and have taken my team as far as I can with my philosophy.
I love my team and every single player on it. We've all grown into a family over the past 5 seasons and I will miss them greatly. From the start I've chosen to forgo the common methods of making my players boost every year. I've always left it up to each individual whether they wanted to boost or not. I've also tried to keep the signing of new FA's to a minimum and stay loyal to the people who chose to stay with us year in and year out. 95% of the people on this team joined us in year 1 or 2. If someone asked to leave I would release them, not trade them to a team they didn't want to go to. I think maybe 4 people chose to go that route since we started. If someone chose to stay, I refused to replace them with a free agent, no matter what the level difference might be.
I succeeded in my goal of building a team full of top notch quality people and the camaraderie on this team is second to none. Unfortunately my philosophy as an owner will never win us a championship. I came to that realization last season. I threw my heart and soul into running this team and spent countless hours trying to figure out what gameplan worked best for us. Just when we would have it figured out, all the rules would change and we'd have to start from square one again. As a result we could never get past that hump and win in the 2nd round.
I know that we could have a real chance to win it all if I adopted the theory of signing the top level mercenaries every year. But I'm too old, loyal, and stubborn to do that to my players. I've chosen instead to blow it all up after this season than to face every year as the "lovable losers" as one of our members so perfectly put it.
I'm letting you know now so my people have ample time to find good homes next year. Many of them would like to stay in Oceania Pro. Several of us have found homes already for next season but I know some of our great players like QB Laser Rocketarm, HB Bob Strong, WR Willy Archer, DE Buck Wilde, LB Jimbo Hunchback...etc etc etc are looking for a team next season. I give you all permission to contact anyone on my team for next season. Everyone will be a free agent on day 40.
I personally vouch for the first class character of every player on my roster. No primadonnas on this team, they were weeded out quickly.
I will miss coaching against you guys. I've been in many leagues and the dignity and class with which all of you hold yourselves, makes this league the best in the game IMO. Not to mention the brutally excellent competition.
Thank you for the great memories and thank you for treating all of the members of the Titans with the utmost respect on and off the field. On behalf of all of us I salute you. It's been one hell of a ride.
