Canada A#5 Eastern top 10 rankings
With a less competitive league (And my RB plow thruya moving to a different league) I haven’t been watching Canada as much. However, you guys deserve a top 10 I suppose… so upon request, here’s how I see the best 10 teams, aka the playoff contenders.
10. St. Catharines Stompers – A bad team that basically fell into the top 10 with terrible competition coming into the league. It’s basically like tripping, falling in dog feces, and smelling better somehow.
9. Port Dover Panthers – This is a team that I thought would turn out better this year than they did. They barely beat a few bad teams, and got blown out by the good teams.
8. Cold Lake FREEZE – Formerly the Mystery Alaskans… the Freeze are basically the best of the worst. They’re better than 9/10… and much better than the gutted teams, but still not in the ranks of the better competition.
7. Alberta Gamblers – Finally a team that’s shown a little improvement over last year and maybe some growth.
6. St. John's Fog Devils – Other teams getting a 1-up on recruiting at the inception of this league still hinders the Fog Devils to this day. They compete with good builds, good chemistry, and gameplanning, but it’s still tough to be with the elite when the better teams have good builds, chemistry, and gameplanning too…. and are 3-4 levels better.
5. Regina Pounders – This team puzzles me. They’re supposed to be one of the better teams in the league, but when playing big games, they don’t show up. I have them ranked lower than the hitmen until they can win the bigger games.
4. Thunder Bay Hitmen – A very good team that could easily turn into a spoiler for somebody in the playoffs.
3. Quebec City Chiefs – Another team that I can’t quite figure out. They were a force last year, and still are this year, but they can never seem to get by the Heads or Eagles. They’re missing that certain something.
2. Flappin' Heads – My preseason ranking for the heads hasn’t changed…. I have them at number 2. The close game against Thunder Bay scares me. I hope, for their sake, that they can close the gaping holes that were exposed in last year’s playoff game vs the Eagles. They’ve had plenty of time to do so since their last meeting.
1. Eastside Eagles – My clear-cut number one… the eagles have it all on their team. They’ve got a stout defense, and one hell of an offense. Combined, they’ve pretty much blown out everybody they’ve played thus far. (They also handily beat the QCC, regardless of what the score indicates)
