Alpha Game of the Week:
Mongolian Horde at Krungthep Garudas:
This is it. No more hiding, there can be only One. Two of the leagues' best teams fight it out in a crucial battle, and both have undefeated records on the line.
At first glance, you have to like the Horde to win this one. The Mongolians outlevel the Garudas at nearly every position and still have several players with boosts left. Even if they wait until the playoffs to boost, the team is well-prepared for the match, having dedicated one coach this season entirely to making sure they win this game. The Mongolian management have also stated that bonus tokens will be across the board in an attempt to insure this victory. Who can blame them? A Horde win here pretty much secures a 1st place finish and a guarantee that they will only have to face either the Garudas OR the Addiction in the postseason - the two biggest threats to deny them the conference trophy.
The Garudas caught them off-balanced last season, and stole an upset win from them during the regular season. However come playoff time, the Horde ruined Krungthep's first playoff outing by taming them in front of their own fans. Both games were very close however, the Garudas winning theirs by 11, and the Horde winning by 9. This one will probably be decided by less than a touchdown. Call me a Homer, but I see Krungthep playing to perfection. GARUDAS by 3.
------------
Algeria Addiction at Pontianak Firebirds:
Firebirds are good, but Algeria is better. Pontianak folds their wings and suffers through withdrawals. ADDICTION by 28
Tibet Psychonauts at Cambodia Mountain Men:
If it's not Horde, Addiction, or Garudas, then the Mountain Men ain't worried. Psychonauts may be the surprise Alpha team this season, but Cambodia has been there and done that in Season 4. The extra experience earns the win. MOUNTAIN MEN by 12
Manila Cyberballers at Ho Chi Minh Hookers:
The Hookers have some nasty clients coming up, so they better pacify the ordinary johns while they can. Manila is an up and comer, but they aren't quite there yet. Hookers cup the balls and take it to the zone. HOOKERS by 10
Padang Lightning at Salford Storm:
Salford has got to get back to winning if they don't want to miss the playoffs, and expect the torrential downpour to begin this week. The Lightning may be pretty and dangerous, but winds, rain and hail will cause more damage. STORM by 20
Columbus Black Knights at Pingree Grove Pits:
After 3 weeks of losses, the Pits finally find someone they can sink their teeth into. Columbus feels less like knights, and more like postal workers as Pingree Grove bites deep and doesn't let go. PITS by 13
Phuket Water Dragons at AFEF Hooligans:
The Water Dragons have had a rough season, losing some tough games and dealing with a disadvantageous schedule. They are much better than their record and intend to make sure that the Hooligans realize exactly how much. WATER DRAGONS by 35
Hiroshima Radiation at Mt. Fiju Dogs:
Tails are wagging as Mount Fiju prepares for their third win of the season. Radiation surprises and puts another touchdown on the scoreboard, but they get beat handily by the Dogs. DOGS by 18
