Took a little time off. Weekends are hard and with the games the Rockstars have had I haven't really been watching this league at all. That said, we have the Lights this week so I'm awake again and will actually have to game plan, so I figured I'd shoot some predictions out again.
GOTW 1*Northern Lights 8-0 @ San Diego Rockstars 7-1
Not a lot to say here. The Lights haven't really been challenged yet this season. Guess we'll see if I'm right when I say that they're the best team in the Conference soon enough.
SouthPark Cows 1-7 @ Prince George's Kings 8-0
The Kings get a break from eeking out close games. I find it hard to believe that they'll go undefeated, but they've already avenged 4 of their 5 losses from last season and with Nike gone, won't have trouble with Atlanta. They still have to fend off the Lights and the Bullets and a possible interconference challenge form a good ICE team, but they're going to have a great record and a great playoff spot.
Kings 42 Cows 3
Saulte Ste. Marie Silver Bullets 7-1 @ Alberta Vampires 0-8
Closing in on a month and the Vampires owner still has his team. At least the new owner next season will get to be in BBB to have a chance.
Silver Bullets 178 Vampires 0
GOTW 2*Grim Afterlife 5-3 @ Moose Jaw Jackalopes 6-2
The Season 3 Western Conference champs were a favorite to compete for the title this season, but are fast looking like the 4th best team in the West. The Afterlife have to be regretting letting the Week 1 game against the Silver Bullets get away, and after giving PGK a great game last week are poised for an upset. Last season Moose Jaw dominated this match up 37-13 with a brutal running game and Grim trying in vain to air it out. I believe Grim will have a little more commitment to the run this time around with the susceptibility that the Jackalopes have shown there this season. If Grim wants any shot at a home playoff game, they have to win this one, and it's a game they may use some bonus tokens on to do so. Both of these teams get a decent amount of QB pressure and have solid OLines. In the end, I think Grim's secondary is a little too weak and Peyton will light them up for some decent points.
Jackalopes 31 Afterlife 17
Winnipeg Falcons 5-3 @ Edmonton Magicians 0-8
Edmonton has decent levels and decent bars yet finds a way to lose every game so far. Winnipeg has slightly better in both, but competes with everyone. Edmonton has some key games coming up to ensure that they stay in A, but they could find a way to lose them too. This one....won't be close.
Falcons 69 Magicians 7
Winnipeg Wolverines 4-4 @ Bort's Wrath 2-6
This could be an interesting match up. The Wolverines would love to solidify themselves as the favorite for the 8th playoff spot. With an earlier win over the Loons, they have the edge, but need to beat everyone that they should beat to hold on to that spot. The Wrath will not be an easy game for them. They've played a tough schedule so far and their offense doesn't seem to be very elite, but their defense has held their own. I think turnovers could be the difference and the Wrath haven't had much success there. My brain says the Wolverines might be a better run team, but the Wrath could pull the upset. Flip a coin.
Wolverines 20 Wrath 14
Toronto Fightin' Loons 4-4 @ Atlanta Flash 2-6
The Flash lost 41-10 to a Yetis team that the Loons just upset. This seems like an open and shut game, but no so fast my friend. The Loons have some serious holes, especially on defense that I expect the Flash to exploit. This could turn into a shootout and I'm taking an upset here.
Flash 48 Loons 41
Thunder Bay Huskies 2-6 @ North Pole Yetis 3-5
Oh how the Yetis have fallen. Once a very competitive team, a loss to the Loons cements their fate for this season. On paper, this is another decent match up. Winner keeps their prayers of the post-season alive, loser should pretty much prepare for next. Yetis run the ball a little better, Huskies toss it a little better. I think the Yetis are still the better team...barely.
