So it seems the Katowice Goons had a couple tough losses early last season and decided to throw the rest of their games, with the intention of getting into this league and soaring to victory.

I'm not really sure what that accomplishes (aside from being dicks), because winning out means you go back to AA but are limiting yourself with recruiting.... either way it's a pretty low move.

Just thought I'd make everyone aware of this.

It's ok. If they win, we will be taking their lunch money next season.

It's sort of a shady move I'll admit, and just one more reason why I firmly believe we should double the number of promotions and relegations, but in the long run at best they'll be back where they started, and at worst they'll miss the promotion and have fallen further behind.

you don't have to recruit when you own every player on the team. You can replace they with he.

Come to think of it, I forgot about that, and looking at their creation dates... They haven't ever boosted.

Looks like come playoff times the Goons will be a lot less impressive, and by next season they'll be pretty much in the dust.

Well it is a game, and as long as their owner is having fun, thats what counts. He has put together a good team this season and competition is always a good thing.

Its not like he is here running his mouth in a negative manner or being disrespectful to anyone.

Running your mouth off and being disrespectful is a vital part of this game, nay, a vital part of football itself!

You make a good point, but at the same time, a lot of effort is put into this whole thing by Bort and crew to make sure the Leagues are balanced and competitive. I'm interested to see how they fair against some of the other big dogs in Alpha. If they run away w/ the league that I shall call bullshit on the whole thing.

If they did drop games so that they would be demoted then they game planned marvelously. It is only the beginning of the season and if Bort announces another league below ours in the next few weeks and then the Goons begin losing all a sudden we will know for certain what their scheme is. In the end they are making the season more interesting - they are kind of this mysterious team with a recluse owner that has never posted (apologies if i am wrong) and are steam rolling all the teams they come across.

The fact that they were made in season 1 and never boosted removes a lot of the mystery, really.

Last season they started out bad because they were terribly underleveled, so I believe the thought was that they'd be better off in a lower league. Looking at the last few games from last season, they played every player out of position just to make sure they'd get relegated.

It's paying off for them now, but come playoffs their level advantage will have completely evaporated, since most teams will be either even with them or higher depending on boosts and whathaveyou.

Boosting an entire team would be expensive, but it just goes to show how vital it really is, unfortunately.

I agree, they are doomed to fail every season if they don't boost. Also, all that playoff revenue for getting home games is going to be wasted if they never boost...
