It was a wild weekend of upsets in College Football and GLB followed suit. The competition for the Alpha championship is definitely not a forgone conclusion. With Bort’s addition of the one game boosts, any one of the top 6-8 teams has a chance to beat any of the other top teams each week. Good stuff!
1. Newcastle - new #1 after back-to-back sound victories. Showdown with Rome in two weeks.
2. Rome - got a game from AFD but not from Trondheim and can start game-planning for W6 contest now since they’ll roll their next opponent.
3. Danzig - only loss thus far was to the now #1. Outstanding D & balanced O but also will have a tough test W6.
4. WYW - couldn’t convert Newcastle’s 5 TO’s into a W but hitting an easy part of their schedule. Despite their first bump from the top spot in weeks, they’re still a title contender.
5. Plainview - this squad’s earned my respect & based on their chemistry numbers are obviously still making moves to get better.
6. Brussels - late rally W3 came up short, hence the demotion to #6, but still a team that, with their depth, has just as good a chance at the title as any of the others.
7. Donegal - similarly to Danzig, only loss was to the #1. Could leap into contender status with wins in weeks 6 & 8.
8. AFD - back to .500 and shut out the Irish with some good D. Should be 4-2 when they travel to Newcastle W7.
9. Portugal - haven’t allowed a TD in two weeks & visiting the #1 this week. If they’ve been wise with their training & can do a collective team one game boost, have a chance to pull an upset against Newcastle to totally blow this whole league open.
10. Irish - Far & away the best of the 1-3 teams, but early season gauntlet run continues.
11. Mokum - they finally got a W. They played Cologne. Good for them.
12. Atom - scored a TD against WYW which is more than the AFD could manage & gave Portugal a fight, but out-leveled & has low chemistry. If they keep their foundation & get a jump start on recruiting
13. Cologne - get a bump to lucky #13 by beating Rotterdam, but nothing else to say really.
14. Rotterdam - appears to be a well managed team that’s laying a foundation & probably already recruiting for next year.
15. Trondheim - pointing to W12 matchup w/ Dublin for rights to league’s worst moniker.
16. Dublin - they’ve scored in every game they’ve played.
Looking forward to W6 - should be fun to watch!
