Week 5 Alpha Power Poll (# in parenthesis is movement from my preseason prediction):

1 (+1) Mongolian Horde 4-0-0 – What can you say? They beat the Addiction.
2 (-1) Algeria Addiction 3-1-0 – One point loss puts them one spot behind the Horde.
3 (-) Krungthep Garudas 4-0-0 - Defense has been stifling.
4 (+1) Cambodia Mountain Men 4-0-0 – Some quality wins, but no statement win.
5 (+2) Ho Chi Minh Hookers 3-1-0 – Only loss to the Addiction, will have chances soon to move up.
6 (-) Salford Storm 2-2-0 – Two losses to the top 4.
7 (-3) Padang Lightning 2-2-0 – Loss to Hookers could come back to hurt.
8 (-) Pontianak Firebirds 2-2-0 Need to show they can beat a top team.
9 (+4) Tibet Psychonauts 1-2-1 – The best of the new teams.
10 (-) Columbus Black Knights 2-1-1 – Really needed to beat Tibet.
11 (+3) Pingree Grove Pits 2-2-0 – Schedule is getting tougher in a hurry.
12 (-3) Phuket Water Dragons 0-4-0 – Been in most game for a half anyways.
13 (-2) Manila Cyberballers 0-4-0 - Haven’t given up over 100 points yet in a game.
14 (+1) Mount Fiji Dogs 1-3-0 – They beat AFEF.
15 (-3) AFEF Hooligans 1-3-0 – They beat the Radiation.
16 (-) Hiroshima Radiation 0-4-0 – Awful.


Game of the Week:
Pontianak Firebirds 2-2 (even) at Krungthep Garudas 4-0
Last weeks results:
Pontianak Firebirds vs. Pingree Grove Pits 27-0
Salford Storm vs. Krungthep Garudas 0-36

Both teams come off impressive defensive performances. The Firebirds held Pingree to 94 total yards of offense. Salford managed just 62 total yards against the Garudas. The Krungthep run game will be a much tougher test for the Firebird defense – one that I don’t think they can handle. Krungthep Garudas 31 Pontianak Firebirds 7

Let down for the Horde? Can Padang keep things going in the right direction? Sorry, but I don’t see Lightning striking here. Horde keep on rolling. Horde by 24.

Algeria Addiction 3-1 (+6) at Columbus Black Knights 2-1-1

Tibet Psychonauts vs. Columbus Black Knights 20-20

The Knights were one point better than the Addiction last week (they got a tie ), but Algeria takes their frustrations out on them this week. White flags waving by the Black Knights. Addiction by 42.

Mount Fiji Dogs 1-3 at Ho Chi Minh Hookers 3-1 (+9)
Last weeks results:
Mount Fiji Dogs vs. AFEF Hooligans 31-30
Hiroshima Radiation vs. Ho Chi Minh Hookers 0-211

I doubt that the Hookers will call off the Dogs this week. The Dogs winning streak ends at 1. Hookers score and score. Hookers by 175.

Hiroshima Radiation 0-4 at Phuket Water Dragons 0-4 (+18)
Last weeks results:
Hiroshima Radiation vs. Ho Chi Minh Hookers 0-211
Padang Lightning vs. Phuket Water Dragons 25-0

Yippee!! One less 0-something team after this week. Both teams went scoreless last week, only one this week. Radiation is just the cure for the Phuket ails. Dragons by 77.

Salford Storm 2-2 (+15) at AFEF Hooligans 1-3
Last weeks results:
Salford Storm vs. Krungthep Garudas 0-36
Mount Fiji Dogs vs. AFEF Hooligans 31-30

The Storm enjoy a visit with the Hooligans much more than with the Garudas. The Storm front is too much for AFEF. Storm by 60.

Cambodia Mountain Men 4-0 (+6) at Pingree Grove Pits 2-2
Last weeks results:
Cambodia Mountain Men vs. Manila Cyberballers 66-7
Pontianak Firebirds vs. Pingree Grove Pits 27-0

Trap game? Could the Mountain Men be looking ahead to their Week 6 Garudas matchup? Oh yes they are, but the Pits won’t stand in their way. Mountian Men by 14.

Upset Special
Tibet Psychonauts 1-2-1 (+3) at Manila Cyberballers 0-4
Last weeks results:
Tibet Psychonauts vs. Columbus Black Knights 20-20
Cambodia Mountain Men vs. Manila Cyberballers 66-7

Don’t really see an upset happening this week but will give the Cyberballers a vote of confidence. A tough schedule thus far, so I give them a shot at putting the Psychonauts down with the rest of the new teams. Cyberballers by 6.

I think that's a good upset pick. When I was scouting Manila for this week's game, I was surprised to see how well they've played in each of their first three losses. Plus, if the Cyberballers are going to turn this thing around, they'd better do it this week before they get stuck in that dreaded morale spiral.

no way we lose by 24. i put my avatar on it. if we lose by 24 i wear the horde logo for the next 5 games. we lose by less than 24 then the horde owner wears our logo for 5 games
