Warrior General Games

After 2 weeks of the season, we've seen some interesting things (Alpha) and some not so interesting things (Zeta). Some upsets (Macau), some dead teams (BHB, PPW), some dying teams (Red Army), some risers (Gangsters), the same top teams (Bulls, Idols), some returners (Razorbacks), and some fallers (Hurricane).

After much internal debate (not really), and a thorough mathematical process (yeah right), I have come up with the following rankings.
Feel free to flame, bash, praise, bow to these rankings. Seriously, please do!
Remember, this is Power Rankings, not best team. Who's hot matters. Recent history matters. It all matters.

Title Contenders

1. Singapore Bulls 2-0
..........Their spot to lose unless a top team gets destroyed by another top team
2. Winona Warriors 2-0
..........In 2nd spot only because they made Championship game last season and beat the Tsunami 2/3 times
3. Lost City Idols 2-0
..........Probably end up Alpha #1, but must beat Macau and Winona first.
4. Pacific Tsunami 2-0
..........Has Zeta #2 baring a disaster
5. Thailand Titans 2-0
..........Needs to push the Tsunami if they want to make the title game this season
6. Macau Kraits 2-0
..........Already has a stranglehold on the #3 seed. A win would jump them to the #1 seed though.

Almost, but not quite at the Top

7. Chiang Mai Gangsters 2-0
..........Starting on the dominant run they thought they could make last season. Will they keep it up this time?
8. Mekong Delta Force 1-1
..........Probably the highest level team, got knocked off in a very close game. Still has a shot at the #1 seed even. But 3 is more likely if Macau falters.
9. Mandalay King Cobras 2-0
..........Claimed they were a team to beat this year. If they can do what Macau did we'll have twin M's dominating the conference for a few seasons.
10. Fayetteville Razorbacks 2-0
..........Destroyed the Hurricanes, who aren't as good as we thought. This team still has to prove something or they won't last in the top 10.
11. Phuket Vandals 2-0
..........Tough game against the AAA demoted team. Winning the games you should is the first step to the playoffs.
12. Phnom Penh Buzzards 1-1
..........Close loss to the Gangsters puts them here. Needs to beat some higher teams though if they want a home game.

Careful or you won't even sniff the Playoffs

13. Manila Fisherman 1-1
..........Probably deserve to be higher, but they should have beat the Babies by more. Could end up challenging the Titans for the 3 seed, or in the 8 spot. Time will tell.
14. Golden Hill Bones 2-0
..........Definitely don't deserve to be this high. But you win games, you get respect. And right now they have mine.
15. Haiphong Bucks 1-1
..........Gangsters game wasn't close. Might be pushed out of the playoffs if they can't win a few games they shouldn't.
16. Shanghai Red Army 0-2
..........Don't deserve to be this high, but I just don't believe they're out of the playoffs yet. They could still turn it around and make a push for the 4/5 seed again.

Outside Looking In, But Pushing

17. Beer Drinking Babies 0-2
..........A-team makes strong push for playoffs in First season. Yes 2 loses, but close games to good teams mean this is a team to watch.
18. Saigon Sharks 2-0
..........AAA team making a push for the playoffs. Still a couple seasons from threatening to get back to AAA though.
19. Taipei Pirate Hookers 0-1-1
..........Team many thought would push for the #4 seed is going to struggle to make the playoffs.
20. Cellar CHUD 1-1
..........Going to win a few games and stay in AA. Threat to make playoffs next season.
21. Stucknut Triceratops 0-1-1
..........Everytime they take a step forward, they take one back also. Needs to beat some decent teams and win the close games to have a shot at the playoffs.
22. Tokyo Hellfighters 0-2
..........Another team ppl thought could make the playoffs doesn't look like they have it. Redeeming chance is they were tough teams they played. Can still turn it around.

Slim margin away from the bottom

23. Shanghai Pirates 1-1
24. Killen War Eagles 0-2
25. Taipei Hurricane 0-2
26. Jakarta Vipers 1-1
27. Chappell Island Tiger Snakes 0-2
28. Super Human Tetris Gods 0-2

That's all I have this week ppl. Sorry, but I'm only going to write about the top teams... My fingers are killing me.

Probably another Power Rankings in a couple games. I'll try for every other game.

Not much to discuss. I agree with most of those rankings, although I think they'll need to be revised after the gangsters Bulls game Thursday.

At this point Id prolly say you were a little generous is you ranking of Phuket. We'll try and earn the ranking with some tougher matchups coming up.

Agreed... but I wasn't going to move everyone after a 2nd look. I could move about 5 or 6 teams up to 3 spots. Just not worth it right now

The Nut getting that tie with Tapei has to be the epitomy of SUCK, we expected a bit more.

That was a huge letdown. Even though the game was very exciting, it also created that same emotions that might lead one to throwing thier monitor across the room.

got as far as this....lol. That is a good reason to be on the top of the list though.

I agree with EtGA. The Gangsters are seriously loaded, and their easy dispatching of the Bucks is quite worrisome. They have the looks of the Red Bulls v2.0.

Assuming that they've either already banked money for next season's upgrades, or are going the max ticket price route (slow sales up front, but sell outs in all games), and, therefore, will be able to afford their lvl 32 bonuses, I can't see how they avoid a top 2 seed in Zeta. I can see the Bulls and Gangsters swapping spots in this poll by the end of the regular season (and likely after Thursday's game), whether that lasts through the playoffs, though, is a completely different question.

imo, you have the top 4 seeds in zeta nailed down. The other 4 seeds will be a battle between Fisherman, Buzzards, Razorbacks, Bucks, Sharks, Bucks, Hellfighters, Hurricane (they have the levels, but they need to get their act together).

i actually hope that Thunder aka Leopards go down to A, every season they were #14...better then the 2 worst teams but no one else.

I still say for some reason, we win games. Sometimes against teams we should not beat. We will make the playoffs. Golden Hill Bones.

This is THE week of matchups.. There will be no better one.
You have the 1st and 4th best going at it in BOTH conferences, and the 2nd and 3rd best going at it in BOTH conferences.

Winona Warriors vs Mekong Delta Force

Pacific Tsunamis vs Thailand Titans

Now I'm kind of excited

no i didn't look at any other teams yet, had no clue it was so epic.

top 8 battles....interesting, guess we will see who at the top of the totem pole in a couple days.

We've had the Titans number since day 1 of the league, hoping we keep our streak up, but if we have to lose one this season against them i rather it be now instead of later. get it out of their system.

I'm not totally convinced the top 4 seeds are set yet. I think there are 5 teams could legitimately vie for those spots provided they have their act together game planning wise. Just like last year, there will likely be upsets that will shake things up.

Our matchup is just a foregone conclusion. I'm going to let my 13 year old game plan it. Maybe he'll have better luck against you than I have.

Rip, when your kid is done working on your game plan, would he have time to game plan our game against the Gangsters?

Seriously I've done this whole season from a hospital bed so far. I had major spine surgery on Day 40 of season 4 and haven't made it home yet so recruiting, game planning and team management has been quite an experience this time around. Starting the season with the Hellfighters, the Fisherman, The Tsunami, and the Razorbacks all in a row I was really worried about getting in a hole we couldn't get ourselves out of. If we can get out it at 3-1 I'll be thrilled.

So with all the drugs my 13 year old is probably the best option.
